I often struggled with the white shirt as the "must have" that nearly every fashion/styling expert says is essential for one's wardrobe. White shirts felt stiff and restrictive. People often forget that style communicators offer prescriptive suggestions. It's up to the audience to find the silhouettes, shapes, and shades that best suit them. I recently discovered that white linen shirts and feminine shirts better suit my style. Thank you for posting this wonderful video. It's good to see you back. PS -- I love your scarf and Polene bag.

Lovely style options and the pairing ideas are inspirational. Would be interesting to see the same concept with a black shirt. Also wanted to say I'm very glad to see you back and hope your family is healing after the loss of your beloved kitty Samantha. I lost my Miss Kitty 2 weeks after - I'd had her for 18 of her 20 years. It is so hard to lose a loved one - big hugs for you and your family

You really need to hop on the ASMR train. Your voice is so calming and tingly. I actually looked to see if you had an ASMR channel. Your videos can be considered "unintentional ASMR", like Bob Ross paint sessions for example.

Great tips as always, but what would you recommend instead for someone who has Light Summer colouring, and therefore ivory white isn't the best? Similar issues with black - black and white basics can be found all over but much harder if you need to avoid them for your colouring..! Any ideas / tips much appreciated :)

Great ideas. Categories really help! However, I don't believe we can talk about white shirts for all without addressing one's best SHADE of white for one's skin color palate. I am a 'summer' and cannot wear stark white as a 'winter', like Audrey can. I look good only in 'winter white'' so I don't 'wash out'. I have not seen any fashion videos on this and I am following several. I first learned about this many years ago from the book 'Color Me Beautiful'. Also, I am 'curvy' and have to be careful of anything billowy or too crisp. Have been hunting for just the right thing. Using linen knit until then!

Me too. I'm curvy and I'm confused about the color thing. I have cool toned pink undertone skin that some times flushes warm toned. Add to that my freckles are warm toned/gold. Some people say that means I am neutral (I have blue, purple and green veins) The shade of white/ black is very important. Cool toned colors look ok on me but lab coat white is not my friend, unless paired with navy. Brown or anything with brown notes (like greyiege) is flattering but it all depends on the hair. Sometimes it's contrast that is required of your clothing. Sometimes. Anyone else have neutral/ cool toned skin with warm/gold freckles?

Good for you! I'm also a great believer in the Color Me Beautiful concepts. Men's style in a white shirt has never suited my curves either. It is a balancing task to find softness without billowing fabric that overwhelms. I think your idea of linen is a good one. Maybe Lily Silks would have an off white shirt for you.😊

If anyone knows of any white cotton shirt makers that include lycra for stretch and make the front in a way that won't gap open if you have a wide chest/back (I'm not busty, but my chest and back are wide like a swimmer - every white shirt --ever -- gaps in the front if it has buttons, or is just too tight across the upper back with no stretch!) . .. anyone knows of some recommendations, please share! Thank you! Love the look but can never find what I need in the fit.

Have you tried Foxcraft? I am tall, busty and broad shouldered- I find their shirts usually fit. They make misses and plus sizes, and are moderately priced.

I love your style-it’s very similar to my own, minus a lot of the white. The thing that’s the most different is your incorporation of short sleeves, shorts, and skirts. How do you manage to wear these indoors in the summer?? I just freeze in the air conditioning. I’m inside working all day, so other than a walk to the car, I’m never outside…and never hot. Sure, you can put a sweater over the top…but that’s a different outfit then. And that doesn’t help cold legs. I’m just wondering what you do.

I’ve tried various white tops, and found that voluminous sleeves and uber frilly/lacy ones look/feel awkward on me.🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, found them difficult to layer or dress down. So I wasted a few dollars 😪 on this popular trend before discovering the design details that worked. Please share the pros/cons of your selection process.

I think this comes down to body type, I can’t go too voluminous either because I’m petite, but I do need some softness like subtle ruffles or frills otherwise it looks to uptight on me or something. I’m a soft classic (if you know the Kibbe system), maybe your body type suits more structure or minimal detail?
