I went from Vans in my twenties to minimalist shoes in boots in my early thirties. Meanwhile my coworkers are stuck on $300 basketball shoes and Crocs

@@lancelot365eI plan to wear crocs all the time, I’m just waiting till I give up on myself. Yep when I have teenage daughters and my only purpose in life is embarrassing them, but I’m not there yet!

Leather Vans slip ons look mature, and the high street copied the design and silhouette. Don't compare them with the canvas ones that look childish. And Crocs? Buy the Mellow clogs and talk later.

Good advice. As mentioned early on, the fit and comfort are key. After all, who wants to wear uncomfortable shoes that are also bad for your feet. Avoid shoes that don’t give your toes room to wiggle (=recipe for bunions and deformed toes). Shoes that have removable inserts will allow the use of custom or non-custom inserts that will make it more comfortable to walk in the shoes. As someone who travels to other countries, I may suggest that sneakers be reserved for the court and other casual shoes be used for everyday wear. There are sneaker-like shoes out there that look dressier and work well with long pants.

10:25 Actually, an open-laced shoe _with_ quarters is conventionally known as a Derby. The Blucher is distinguished by the absence of such.

I actually just bought a pair of timberland varsity 6 boots to freshen up my style, they are mainly grey with black Treadwear, but they go together with my blue jeans and my canvas style shacket. Kind of gives the blue collar type style that I'm going for.

Gentlemen. The Professor isn't lying about boots. Years ago I bought a cheap pair of Justin cowboy boots, and just posted them on my FB page. All my female friends went nuts over them. It was crazy. These were like 400 bucks.

My daily drivers are Stacy Adams wingtip dress boots. I'm in athletic taper dress pants and shirts every work day. The 3 pair of SA dress boots I have add the final confidence touch. Great styles, comfortable, and if on sale $70-$100 for a $150 boot. Size down just like dress shoes.

Instead of Jeans can you dress down the Cap Toe Oxfords with Chinos? Mine are in a Sanborn shade with a tiny amount of broguing. I'm still hoping to add a Derby and Wingtip Oxford though for more variety.

Yeah just too much of a contrast. You really need to make the whole outfit more casual or make the shoes smarter. A suit needs a pair of dress shoes or boots. Shoes can really make or break and outfit. The only time sneakers work with a suit is if it's a very casual light suit and styled the right way.

Bought my first boot online (big mistake) it came like a redish ox blood brown. I wanted a more mocha brown. But I have to use this, what's best shade of jeans and color for burgundy/oxblood boots?

Burgundy works with anything that goes with black. You can also with medium and darker browns as black would.

@@Samson2323 Allen Edmonds Chili is that color. I like burgundy because it works in any suit or sport coat pairing but is not boring black. Wear darker trousers and let the coat be medium or lighter.

Comfort and accessibility to viewers. Sneakers make people more relatable even if they're otherwise dressed up. It's not like they're in court

The white sneakers in the thumbnail look like the Adidas Advantage and Stan Smith models.... Adidas created the silhouette, all the $1000+ dollar designer ones are replicas of Adidas. Even the Gucci sneakers and slides are Adidas in nature. I have the Adidas Advantage in white with legend ink, Adidas Hoops 3.0 in white with black stripes, and the Adidas Grand Court 2.0 in white with the black stripes.... Those silhouettes have been copied by every design house. I also have the Converse Chuck Taylors in black leather with the sole; classic silhouette, even Christian Dior stole the design. And I do have dress shoes, and loafers; extremely hard on your feet. The sneakers listed above with an Airplus plantar fasciitis insole are perfect.

What do sneakers provide that other shoes do not? Comfort? Well fitting leather shoes are just as comfortable. They have a place when working out. Otherwise, the first question is “Don’t you have real shoes?” If not working out, wear real shoes.
