I live in Bondi and these tips apply perfectly to the beach. The grass is greener observation is spot on. Cheers

Best surfing video I've seen. In the carolinas, all we have are small beach breaks. I've missed many waves by sitting up on my board, that totally makes sense. Will keep moving around from now on!

I started a year ago I fall victim to greener grass a lot and now I know better and it’s 100% accurate 😅

Yes, I am this not patient guy thinking ocean is jocking with me. I move, then waves come where I was 😓😓😂😂

In Finland they say, "The grass is always greener over the septic tank" - which I think applies to your advice toward chasing waves :D I do the same thing in traffic jams.

Thanks, a few things I thought getting confirmed here and some new concepts to take on the water. did the follow up video mentioned at the end get created as well? Curious particularly at what to do with the quick closeouts - try to float them to link into a new section, get an air? lol

Always noticed it could be a 1ft (hawaiian) mushy day and even longboarders would struggle to ride the waves. But there would always be a dude on a performance board who still would just absolutely smash every wave and hit big maneuvers on them while everyone else would struggle to stay in it

These are fantastic tips! We live in St. Augustine, Florida and the beach breaks are exactly like in this video. I am working on going in deeper and not fearing rips - would love to see more content about beach break surfing, mindset about rips (and when wiping out lol)

Hey Jonathan, will definitely do a more detailed video on navigating the line-up. Just wanted to get more insight about wiping out and rips, is this something that creates a bit of anxiety or are you more curious about what to do in these situations?
@fallingscalesmedia

@@independentsurfer thanks for asking! Rips and wiping out (being held under for possibly a long time) creates some anxiety. Since it is a beach break, it’s constantly changing like you said and rips feel unpredictable, and so I want to be able to handle it. Want to have the skills and confident that I can handle any situation and not drown lol. I think there is like this underlying fear that a sketch situation might crop up, and there aren’t lifeguards at the beach break we go to.

@@fallingscalesmedia sure, totally get it.. the fear of drowining is the biggest thing that holds me back as well.. I will do my best to adress it in a future video

I paid for a surf coaching session a few weeks ago. The guy noticed that I was spending all my energy trying to get my huge board out through breaking waves. He showed me a rip current from the beach and told me to paddle out there. Now I'm hooked. If I see I rip, I'm using it to get out back!

true. Please niche down to small shitty surfing tips and lessons. It's almost useless watching videos about maneuvers and even the pump for speed (which I haven't found the perfect one) on clean big waves when that doesn't apply for small mushy waves. I tried rail to rail, sometimes it works, up and down, sometimes it works. Trying to make turns? I barely go down the line for more than 2 pumps, I can't even get enough space and momentum to attempt a turn...Please keep them coming.
