If you’re struggling with the new Hitman Freelancer mode - arguably the greatest thing IOI has ever done with the game - then it’s important to understand some lesser-known mechanics to help you succeed. This video will cover how to level quickly, how to gain tons of merces, and ways NPCs can be exploited. I'll also go over some basic strategies, including how to handle Showdowns easily, what to look for when everything goes wrong, and even a simple exploit to cheat death outright.

UPDATE May, 2023: The devs have patched ALT+F4 so you will fail your freelancer mission if you now use that key combination. The current workaround for when you want to restart your mission is to pause the game, open task manager, then end task Hitman 3. Freeze has more details here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9KFf8aentKWYGQ.html

in the beginning - yes learn how to get lots of cash (New York) and you may completely ignore failures. unless you loose constantly, you can quickly get all items and from that point onward you have no need for money, so in case of failure, you can rather quickly refill all three basic equipment cases. in the end, I enjoy this mode far more than contracts (which I wouldn't even play if not for achievements and related unlockables. I am/was forcing myself to do one or two every week for that reason only).

An additional tip for Showdown missions: The description of your target is exact, and exclusive. The Leader will NEVER show a tell or look that is not present on the guide. So, if the tell is "Smoking" and "Sweet Tooth," then seeing a suspect preform a "Bookworm" tell is an instant freebie rule-out.

Bananas are great to rob couriers. After you unlock the kitchen there will always spawn a banana to bring along to missions. Just closely observe the couriers path and place the banana (which is totally legal btw). When they slip they will drop the Merces, and afaik they won't pick them up again. Another niche tactic is placing guns or other illegal objects to distract a guard. When an NPC sees a gun where it isn't supposed to be they will alert the nearest guard (unless they already are a guard) and that guard will then pick the weapon up and bring it to the nearest weapon depot (those black boxes in some security rooms). Some bodyguards or door guards are immune to this, but if there's a particularly annoying patrolling guard this can make them disappear for a while. Keep in mind that Hitman 3 only lets you carry 1 of each gun (if you already have the exact model in your inventory the new one will disappear)
@Mordrukk666
@Mordrukk666 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I should have specified that bananas are the intentional way to take out couriers in public, and the dropped weapon trick is indeed great for luring guards away from the area for a while. However I don't think assassins pick up dropped weapons? I'm not sure but I feel like they just ignore them, but in theory it should be a solid strategy for distracting assassins away from their relative suspects
@HATECELL

@@Mordrukk666 haven't tried it on assassin's yet, but on some elusive targets the "personal escorts" ignored the weapons
@xt4hodgson

@@Mordrukk666 Assassins tend to call someone to pick up a weapon if they see it. However, if an unarmed npc sees it and the nearest guard npc is an assassin, the civilian will notify the assassin and the assassin will come pick it up. I've used it a few times to remove bodyguards from suspects before setting up a meeting. I also have a tip for showdowns that is tricky to pull off it but worth it when done right. Won't work on the first showdown as there is only one network, but later showdowns have multiple networks so if you identify a suspect in a different network to the leader, you can cause a panic for that network to evacuate the area. I'd advise causing the panic somewhere secluded so only that network panics. I've had one instance where the leaders network left as well but I think they saw the same body rather than it being caused by the first network. I've used the panic successfully 5 times so far (not always intentionally) and it helps a lot when there are 9 suspects.
@Mordrukk666
@Mordrukk666 Жыл бұрын
@@xt4hodgson I started noticing the chain reaction when suspects become panicked and you're right - additional suspects will only escape if they're in the vicinity of an already escaping suspect. If the suspects are spread out enough, only one of the networks will escape. It's absolutely a great way to thin the herd of suspects when there's too damn many

Great video! Thanks for the tips! Another quick tip if you just want a briefcase in every level without the risk of bringing and, potentially, losing a large firearm: Fishing. If you fish and get a driftwood, not only will it not count towards your total capacity, but the game treats it as a large item that requires a briefcase so it gives you one at the start of the level. Then you can simply toss off the driftwood out your briefcase or use it to distract or bonk some heads.

The vault is great for starting out and if you grab all the gold bars in the bank robber disguise, You and get the gold sawed off shotgun for FREE. Two more from me. Showdown on Paris is extreamly easy if you manage to get Helmut Kruger disguise. Best option is to start his oportunity, go on the nearby port behind the helicopter, throw something againt the wall and then throw one on the egde of port. You are allowed almost everywhere and suspect can't detect you. Also if you think you can't isolate target that is guard you can drop pistol from other guard and he will go with it to a secluded space - I use this on the guard target in the middle area in New York.

Some Additional Tips About The Maps. If you are new try to avoid Colorado like the video said, but I also personally avoid Haven Island and Bangkok as well as for Bangkok and Haven the targets are hard to isolate usually, and Haven has really bugged detection. If you're also in the area already on NY you can actually enter the vault to get some mercers ~10k but it varies. For Showdowns I find Sapienza is also a good pick due to the excessive sniper spots (Ruins, Church, and Clock) which make finding and killing the target pretty easy.

So looting this precious chests with gear on maps and KNOWING where they might be can help a lot ... same goes for knowing the best disguise for each specific area... some maps have a freaking awsome disguise which brings you everywhere ... guard outfits per se: you can wear a silenced assault rifle or any gun on your back visible even a security guard in Miami (which are normally not running with Assaults!) are totally fine... for Showdowns: you can be in TRESPASSING AREAS totally chilly if no normal enforcers are there the suspects are only enforcers if its an alerted showdown... Assassins are never enforcers! Thats my 2cents as well as for push kills: if you want to push a guard over a ledge or window and you don't have coins? place a GUN: it works the same way as shown in this video! I am a veteran player of Hitman and hard boiled by many fails of Freelancer so i know my tricks ... and yes if the HEAT is on: if you created a safe space maybe with only 1 entrance for guards rushing you - i hope you have stocked up on bullets :-) it helps - i cleared in the attic of Paris almost all guards of the map because i messed up and killing guards is free so feel free to kill as many treads if necessary ;-) FOX OUT

Thanks for the guide. So far I haven't played it much (first because it only works one time out of 20 when I open the game mode) and because it gives me so much anxiety to possibly lose all my gear, the alt+F4 thing might have just solved that though.

I started playing a while after hitman 2 came out but I think freelancer mode is so cool and from my experience there’s 3 types of players: those that prefer to grind a level and follow a set path until the finally achieve their goal and feel super accomplished or those that are a bit less dedicated and prefer to just plan on the go and play as it is and then you have the very small amount of people that only play the campaign for the story and not really much else aside from maybe the sniper missions

Shooting a wrench to create a spark is wild. It's crazy they added such a small detail into the game, yet you can still shoot someone in the leg and they drown the moment their face touches the water. What will or won't work in this game, and what will or won't kill a person, is often hilarious.

An easy way to have a briefcase is to bring the car battery from the garage. I pretty much always grab the wrench and battery from in there on my way out. Easy accident kills when you overflow a sink and drop that car battery on em.

Additional tip that I just learnt today. I assumed that tasers would behave like tasers in real life and just knockout people, no. They kill, and what's more, it's considered an accident kill - amazing for doing hardcore silent assassin.

My personal tip Pretty new so may not be a good idea but if you get the chance to get an emetic tranq gun, take it. Its helped me in so many scenarios to take out an annoying target

To anyone who wants to bring a briefcase with them into a mission, but wants it without a large weapon, use driftwood. You can get it every run, it weighs nothing, making it perfect if you want to pull off the emetic briefcase trick.

Exactly! And it doesn't take a single item spot unlike the car battery or other big items found in the safehouse!

I was once on the final target of a mission, done everything perfectly, collected the Couriers, all crates, all objectives... And the final thing to do was to kill the last target with a sniper riffle, which I had on a suitcase and on a good spot to kill the target... I started to collect the sniper from the suitcase but I noticed some guards coming towards me, I freaked out and I dropped the rifle, but it felt on the water as I was on the edge of a pier in that Island with the secret society... OMG I was sooooooo pissed at myself lol...

Mendoza is the absolute best level for showdowns. Most of the time you spawn in the cave where you get the "skeleton key" disguise right away and literally everything is accessible then and there. Not to mention you have an incomparable line of sight to all the suspects at once, so if you're lazy, you can just mark 3-4 top suspects and most likely be able to take them out from the game's original spawn point in a few seconds.

I actually like doing freelamcer in Colorado so long as I don't have suit only objectives. The point man is the only disguise in the game that lets you walk around armed with a sniper rifle. Showdowns I absolutely avoid places like Bangkok and Marrakesh as you can't always get lines out of sight in the densely packed crowds. Showdown locations I like are New York and Dubai as they have civilian disguises that have large unrestricted access like the Job Applicant and Penthouse staff. The reason for civilian disguises is a stage that is alerted have more enforcers that see through guard disguises, most the time they will not see through non-guard disguises. New York is also a good place to raid the vault for Merces.

Also I want to say that you are supposed to catch every stuff to fit the stillage. For example the police baton appears in Paris, New York and Hokkaido. It's easy to take it and you will not need to buy it or get it as a reward. Guardians in Dubai equipped with silenced Shashka or silenced SMG

One good tip, maybe a lot of people know, if u dont want to lose everything when u die, at the moment u get discovered and being shot, close game on the deskop and u can reload before the mission started with all the items. If u die on the mission, whatever if u pause and close the game it will save automatically, so close the game before u die. PC only
