Learn the basic "Suzy-Q" 1930s Jazz Step, commonly thought of as the trickiest for beginners. Hopefully we make it easy for you.

My mom taught this step to my sister and me when we were little. It was her favorite move, along with the 'Shorty George', from her Lindy Hop days in the 30s and 40s. :-)

Routines like the tranky doo and so on made me think that the "vanilla" suzy-q was "out on even beats". Then today, I was refreshing the big apple...and every clip I've found of old-time suzy-qs (like your tutorial here) has "out on odd beats". My world is now turned upside down. What else have I been wrong about? Is neo-swing actually cool?? Do leaders actually start on their right foot??? It's like my life is a lie!

3 months late, but the "neo swing" i dance to is called electro swing, i suggest looking up parov stelar's songs like booty swing or the phantom (1930's version), or caravan palace's rock it for me and dramophone, and jamie berry's song delight is amazing, ah yes. and yes, "neo swing" is indeed cool, just under-appreciated and i can't wait for the second 20's era coming up so we have an excuse for a swing revival
