After moving my computer, I was so confused that my games, which normally ran great, were suddenly bricked. I looked around to find the onboard graphics being the only one in use, and was so frustrated when none of the options from the original video were working... Until you mentioned that I should plug in my HDMI into the graphics card, and realized I just plugged them back in the wrong damn slot. 10/10 counter to my dumbassery

Personally I leave this setting on Auto. I also keep the little tray icon up so I can see what programs are running on the Nvidia card. The problem with selecting just the Nvidia card is that everything will run on it even if there is no benefit to it. This will have a tendency to bog down programs that can benefit from the use of the card. Typically the CPU is going to be better at off loading the graphics processing when not needed (because you are not using the low graphics program) and prioritizing other tasks. Especially on some lower end GPUs in laptops this can be an issue. That said you can also make sure that a particular program uses a specific card using these settings. It is rare that you would need to do this because the software is usually good at figuring out when it needs the 3d rendering.

Hey! So my problem is that i reinstalled completly my lenovo Y530 notebook, installed, the newest drivers, with the newest windows, (19042 ). The GTX 1050 TI showing in the Task manager but nowhere else. My laptop is only using the integrated graphics card which is a Intel UHD Graphics 630. Also when i try to download a new GPU driver the system just crashed (blue screen) then starting upp again. Other problem is i can't open the nVidia controll panel, tryed to fix it with some of the basic methods but nothing worked. I would appriciate any tipps that can help! Thank you for your time.

I thought my Geforce GTX 970M was old, then I saw that someone actually have the GTX 950M and use it to make videos in 2020. Amazingly I just found out about these nvidia settings in my own laptop as there was no information about this when I bought my laptop. So I have been using the crappier Intel card as the primary card all these years.

None of these helped. I have an NVIDIA Driver (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB), and another (Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630) but when I installed the Nvidia Control Panel from the Microsoft Store, it said I didn't have a NVIDIA Driver, I installed the drivers from their website, still doesn't say I have an NVIDIA Driver, even though it appears under my Display Adapters and if I go into settings and go under Graphic Settings, and select a game to use a specific GPU, Nvidia is an option. I'm honestly confused as hell, and thinking I should buy a new gaming computer or just add new parts to it.
