This procedure pretty much sums up the British logic and efficiently. All the should have done is make a new button, which could lead you to the exact same page. But it would say "change from pre-settled to settled status". But no. Make people have to literally research it.

Absolutely unbelievable this stone age process. We already sent all the documentation before for the pre-settlement status, we can see that documentation, the GOV can see it and we still need to go through the same traumatizing process again.

I've never used the app to prove my identity when I was applying for pre-settled status, should I still go with the "Prove your identity" option now that I have to apply for settled status?

hi...one question..do you have any idee how long dose it take for me to check the progress of my application. I am currently switching from pre-settled to settled status. I can not check the progress because If I use the proof, it will show me the pre-settled status...I received an email saying that it is likely to take more than a month for them to check it.

Processing times are essentially random. If you received confirmation that you have indeed submitted your application, all you can do is wait.

May I ask, do I legally have to stay in the UK for min 6months a year to apply for settle status? Is it perhaps enough to only pay taxes? Or do I need to physically be in UK land for that duration? Also what about after getting settled status? Is that still a requirement?

Only thing that matters is physical presence, anything else is entirely inconsequential.

@@leonorsalgueiro Yes, that's what inconsequential means. And no, it's not as simple as 180 days in a year. You have to not be away more than 180 days in any period of 365 days which is inside your five years of qualifying residence, save for permitted absences in special circumstances.

@@leonorsalgueiro no, it's any 365 days interval. 24/8/20-23/8/21, but also 25/8/20-24/8/21, and so on.

No, during the application you'll be asked if you have completed 5 years in the UK and you need to answer truthfully

@@omarelrhali3488 did you apply as soon as you came to the uk, the same day you came or atleast a day after u came, if the later is the case you should apply to settled status the day you complete 5 years residency in the uk, when you apply you will get a document sent to ur email called 'certificate of application' when you have this you can have all the rights you would have when u have pre settled status until u get a decision on settled status. atleast thats i what i know of pls do more research if in doubt.

I am in the same situation, I came here in September 2018 so I will get my 5 years in a few months. My previous application took a little over 2 months to be completed so I will just apply now. If it doesn't get approved I can always reapply in September. You never know unless you try.

@@mavis_ss if you do that, you are lying to Home Office in your application when you answer the question "Have you completed a 5-year period of residence in the UK?". I cannot stress enough how much of a bad idea this is. Do NOT apply before you have completed 5 years.
