Joey Nishad Presents an exploration with Paul P into a set of training methods, to be practiced when one is sufficiently fluent in a suitable Integration Function / Song(ing) Formula / "Inner Feel", in order to release inside the pelvic girdle, thus allowing for Elastic and Hydraulic Unusual Strength and Power generation and transmission through the pelvis, including the sacral and lumbar spine. This allows for the coveted skill of Lightness of the Feet as it is called in some methods, which creates the condition of feet being elastically and hydraulically supported optimally against gravity, such that the feet are only, "just touching the ground" experientially. This prevents the practitioner from pressing into the ground to brace against external forces which makes one immobile and unable to step with their feet without shifting weight first, for the duration, at the very least. Therefore, for mobility, the skill developed here allows one to step, regardless of the load bearing status of each leg/foot without first shifting weight. Many systems that derive power and stability from the stance unfortunately are plagued by the immobility caused by bracing against the ground when generating power and therefore can benefit from this training. As a side effect of this training, one can learn how to unlock and release Unusual Strength and Full Body Power if one is fluent in an appropriate Integration Function. Release experienced in the body with the appropriate Perceptual Models of experience applicable to the Integration Function in use, is utilized to "lift the knee towards the chest" here.
This is an illustration of how Integrated Movement and Whole Body Power modalities produce different power (Unusual Power) output compared to conventional strength mechanics. This is the kind of power (Aiki, Jin, Gin) used in internal martial arts such as Taijiquan, Baguazhang, I Liq Chuan, Wuji Yi Lik Kuen etc. My inner experience here is that of integrating the body into the right Integrated Configuration (Zhong Ding or Central Equilibrium in Taijiquan speak, Neutral in I Liq Chuan speak or "the right feel" in Wuji Yi Lik Kuen speak) using the Integration Function (Song-ing in Taijiquan speak) and using the Expectation (Yi in Taijiquan speak) of the resistance being propelled to mobilize the Chi/Qi thus generating the heavily Elastic, Hydraulic, Unusual Power Output.

Hmm. Very interesting Joey. This is one way to think about 'keeping the legs light' as written in the classics. Nice. ;)

This is called reverse root, I have been teaching it for years and have a few videos showing it combined with other internal stuff. It doesn't make you light, nor does the other person feel you as light. There is a thing call Lightness training, but is a totally different thing, also cool though. I shouldn't care what you call it, and personally I don't, but if you want people to be able to connect what they are doing to Daoist tradition it is important to name things correctly.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I've never heard the term "reverse root" and none of my teachers have used that term either. Which art/tradition/teacher does that come from please? I'm of course happy to use the terminology used by my teachers. I have no idea what other Daoist traditions call it. Different strokes for different folks, and all that 🤗 Yes, it is not the "lightness skill" ("Qing Ling", I believe) that we are exploring here. Please share links to some of your videos, love to see 🙏 As the video clearly states, it is referred to by my teachers from a few different traditions as "lightness of the feet". It was also.called "feet like a cat" or even the basis of "rooster stepping". Great to learn something new everyday! Thank you for sharing 🤗

Hi Joey that was really interesting. Can you describe what you were doing with your student. Is it similar to injecting Jinn by pushing on him with your structure? Ive seen this before where people get pushed back because the pressure inside them become too much, maybe its the same thing.
