I remember I was SO intimidated trying to use manual mode. After watch video after video on youtube for months about shutter speed, iso, aperture, lighting and composition I feel hamstrung now trying to use a camera in auto mode! Gary is sooo right.. just work with one setting at a time and focus on lighting, angle and composition.

What's a fidget spinner and what does it have to do with photography. I always use Manual. And I have my metering on the shortcut button so I can change it at a moments notice.

Gary, i don't know how you do it, but you are one of the few people in this world that have mind blowing explaining abilities..it's just stunning. I thought i was the only person to notice that, until i scrolled down and saw the comments, so that gives you a small idea of just how captivated i was by your videos. That was such a clear, concise video. So easy to understand. Thank you Gary. :-) p.s. I haven't tried the manual controls on any of my recent smartphones, but I'm going to do what you suggested and tinker with the exposure time (I do want to get some of those "Arty" photos of red and orange car lights at night time).

Have been using manual shots quite a bit because of a very dark environnement (caves). I found the "night mode" to be very fitting, giving you 2 controls: Exposure and Shutter speed. Very easy to start (though you can do exactly the same in manual AND MORE!) thanks for explaining the dual lens part, because ive never got it.

Manual/Pro mode is a great feature to have especially for those mobile photographers and instagrammers. Auto mode has gotten very good but having a Manual mode can offer advantages for creativity and customization.

I did photography in college with all film cameras (No digital back then!) and I do 3D animation for work now, which uses the same camera settings so I do occasionally use manual mode, in fact I like the app called Manual Camera. Most of the time I just use the regular automatic mode though.

LG V20 manual mode is dope I love it never use the auto settings cause it does so much better manual mode. A cheap(er) way of getting in manual cameras is mirrorless + vintage nikkor lenses + adapter

You can use low ISO indoors as long as you compensation with lower shutter speed and/or bigger apperture.

+dovydas aukstuolis they gotta up their game with a second sensor or extend the slo-mo as well as finally sorting out the Auto mode. Great potential, but poor execution unfortunately.
