How to Take a Train in Cambodia

In this video, I'll show you everything you need to know to take a train in Cambodia! Follow Saimai, William, and I on the way from Phnom Penh to Siahanoukville, with stops in Takeo and Kampot, on the way to Koh Rong Sanloem.
I'll cover how to buy a ticket, the cost when to show up at the train station, how to get food, how long the train takes, what time the train leaves and arrives at its destination, as well as the typical speed of the train.
Trains are really one of the best ways to travel through Cambodia, because you get to see the real Cambodian countryside, along with amazing scenery. This slow train ride reminded me of my childhood back in the 60s as we took it to Kampot then my dad would pick us up to travel on to Kep. Our family had a vacation home on the hill overlooking the ocean then. That sounded like a long ride but with beautiful scenery along the way. Enjoy your trip with your family!

Watching this train from Phnom Penh to Battambang it brings back memories in April 17 1975 the train took my whole family of 7 and dumped us in Battambang that never ever knew where it is now 48 years later never return. Just visit a few times. Now live in the USA

I agree. I took a train while I was in Thailand. It was an overnight trip in a sleeper car. I loved it. When I go to Cambodia next year I'm sure I'll take at least one train trip.

The whole point of travel is to have new and different experiences in environments different from what you're used to. If they are trying to travel the world and are put off by a few light bumps on a train, maybe world travel isn't for them.

Where can you go with trains in cambodia? i dont like vans. Can you go up siem reap instead of fly? or poipet?

As I heard about it before, the train system from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap will start the construction or finish in 2035 (I'm not sure) and now they are studying about the express way from PP to SR.
