At my request, the RPh at pharmacy gave me first dose. I was told to pinch skin forward. I felt slight sting, dull pain and there was a drop of blood at the injection site. Dull pain went away after 10 minutes. The second dose I injected myself. I forgot to pinch skin forward as a result I felt absolutely NOTHING. However I know it was successful because I didn’t have an appetite for days afterwards.

Usually no skin pinching is required with this pen device as its very stable on flat service. As long as there's some subcutaneous tissue/ fatty tissue, it's fine to inject this way

Does it matter if you have the shot in your abdomen each time or are you supposed to change the location for each shot?

Please change location each week even if using the same area. And try to rotate from abdomen to thighs every three months

Just this morning I started 10 mg Mounjaro. I switched from 2mg Ozempic. I am not sure if I received my full dose because I just assumed it worked like the Ozempic pen. I immediately removed the pen away from my belly probably too soon. The clicks frightened me. However, the grey plunger did become visible after my injection and the pen returned back to its lock position. Would you please tell me if you think I received my complete dose? I felt a sting, saw no drops or blood. Thank you so much for this demonstration.
@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified8 ай бұрын
Mounjaro is different pen device from ozempic The needle comes and goes back into the device without being visible. If you didn't see any drops then all is OK 👌 Good luck

You're not supposed to unlock it until it's on your skin.
@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified4 ай бұрын
It's easier if unlock done before putting on skin because of dexterity and sometimes patients find it hard to unlock with one hand. But it really doesn't matter when one unlocks as long as they are careful not to accidentally click the button after unpick until the device placed at proper injection site

I’ve been having trouble lately I push the purple button and it does not pop back up after 5 seconds I still see the med in the injection
@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified10 ай бұрын
Normally the push button stays in and doesn't pop back. If you hear two click sounds in span of three seconds and see the grey piston moving down in the glass tube, medication has been administered correctly
@Scooter10887 ай бұрын
What if I hear the second click before 10 seconds is up. Is it okay to remove right after I hear the second click?

Yes that's perfectly fine... Keep an eye on the piston inside the pen device which comes in and goes back

@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified4 ай бұрын
Yes it's very quick and second click is enough to confirm dose is in... the count of 5 is safety net to ensure that pen is not withdrawn too fast... when dose increases the second click might take slightly longer to be heard... counting 5 is best practice

I forgot to remove the cap and pressed it clicked but the liquid stayed in how to rescue it how to save the injection and use it again
@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified3 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately the liquid will come out as you remove cap. This dose will go waste, I'm afraid because the plunger would already have gone down with needle and retracted
@Endo-Diabetes-Simplified3 ай бұрын
It is also possible that the button wasn't fully pressed because the quantity of liquid is plenty and its unlikely to stay in if you accidentally pressed the button with the cap on and back unlocked. It would be best to remove the cap and check if liquid still there then unlock and try pressing again. You should hear two clicks when the pen is properly functioning and see the plunger moving down and retracting

Very good point. That's why your endocrinologist supervision is a must. This is only a guide for patients who come in my clinic and already have discussed things and want a recap at home since too much information is forgotten.
