finally! a video that isn't garbage! I've been wondering if this was possible, but I didn't even know what to ask.

Thank you! On my channel you also can find a video on how to build a dedicated Cyanotype camera. Be sure to use a highly sensitive mixture and give it some time try first 1 hour and if the results are good then decrease the exposure time. My best time was 15 minutes. But that is really a bit too fast.

thanks for showing your process! the focusing solution you came up with seems like a nice and simple solution. trying different papers is a really good idea, I hadn't thought about that. I coat my own paper with a basic cyanotype mix but that doesn't do much at all. I have some pre-coated that I will try next.

yea I also tried it with my own mix and it does work. Especially when adding more citrate. But it takes longer time + the type paper you use is very important. I tried 8! types of paper (only 1 worked). Drawing paper, aquarel paper, even paper from a diary. And I have tried the old Herschel two bath method. It does work. So for now since the mixing of the formula is a bit tedious I buy the prepared solar paper and then still had to try 3 different brands. For example the 'Sun print kit' from Berkely university is rubbish for taking pictures. But it's a wonderful thing to hold your first 'in camera' cyanotype negative in your hands. The first time I would suggest leaving the camera for 1hour to see how sharp and bright the image is. If very clear cut it down for the next pic to 40 min then 30. You can ofcourse also use paint and invert image to get a positive from your negative shot.

@@sneeuwwolf1176 oh, I'll try doing a mix with more citrate then. that sounds good. I have an assortment of papers I can try. aquarel paper and pages from old pocket books have worked well for me. considering the two bath method, do you mean using an acidic bath first and then plain water or something like a bleach and tone?
@sneeuwwolf11762 жыл бұрын
@@theclovercross no no one bath (i did coating with sponge brush) citrate (then dry and expose it). Next one bath ferricyanide (I poured the solution on the paper). Then washing in water and drying. The 'old' Herschel proces: solution A 20% solution citrate. Component B 2% ferricyanide. I think i lowered component B % and doubled component A. DONT expose with ferricyanide (B) by mistake. This can cause dangerous gasses. And being inside the camera these can be very very harmful. So either mix everything and expose (like standard) or two step Herschel proces: expose only the A citrate.

@@sneeuwwolf1176 aha, I see! thanks for explaining it clearly. I'll make sure to try it.

I also put it under a book while drying to make sure the paper doesn't curl up and wrinkle.
Hi Sir, can you do it only with A4 Paper? and is it need potassium?
@sneeuwwolf1176 Жыл бұрын
No you can use any kind of paper, as long as it can stand water. I used thick water colour paper I think 230 gr weight. As recipe I used the Herschel 2 part method.

@@hugaalkallani452 the cyano recipe from Herschel. You can find it on google. But you can also buy a cyanotype kit from Jacquard.

Can you do this with pinhole?
@sneeuwwolf1176 Жыл бұрын
You can do this with cyanotype paper but it would take days to get a picture. Better use photographic paper in a pinhole camera. Then it still will take some minutes to get a picture but way faster. You then can develop the pictures by yourself. For a developer recipe check my ´Caffenol recipe´ video. It´s easy.
