In this video I will explain how to take the TIB bus in Mallorca (Majorca) allowing you to save money on your holiday but still get to see the sights.

Really useful video! I absolutely love travelling by bus over there. It’s so easy and such good value. In the video you mentioned the Revolut card. I have been meaning to get one for a while. Definitely will do before my next visit. Great that people can now book a rental car through your website and that the commission from it will go back into this channel. 🚌 🚗

Great little video! I would also like to add that, on the buses like the one you got on (not the small ‘rural’ uses) there’s a USB port above every seat, allowing charging of devices. Seats recline and the air con is pretty fierce too.

During my recent 8 night stay in Sa Coma I got the bus to Porto Cristo and back and to the Friday market at Son Servera. It was so much more convenient tapping the card and I think the second person is cheaper.

Hi, thanks for sharing, very informative! I was just wondering, if I have to take 2 or 3 buses to get to my destination, do I then tap on and tap off on each bus or only tap in on the first bus and tap out on the last bus? Also, is Google Pay recognized?

Hi - I would always tap off when leaving a bus and tap on when you get on the next one. You will be charged less I believe if the transfer is made within a certain time frame. Re Google Pay, try it, but also take your card. It doesn't state either way on the website if it can be used, but let me know!

The TIB network is extensive but doesn’t seem to be optimised for connection through Palma, and the bus timetables for similar service clumped together, such as the 10* from Palmanova, you wait for ages for a bus and the 104, 106 and 108 all turn up at once along with the A11. I’m looking forward to using the 131 shown on the summer map between Palmanova to Banyalbufar. Do you know when it will start? Also, the 10* buses have cycle racks in a shared space (pushchairs/wheelchair) ahead of the exit doors but I cannot find out which of the other TIB services have the same and what happens if a disabled passenger gets on if there are cyclist already on board?

I think timetables have been thrown out with heavy traffic..so. I´m not sure about the Palmannova to Banyalbufar bus... Not sure about the disabled issue. But I would hope that a cyclist would make way for the disabled passenger.

Thanks for this. Quick question. If 2 people travel then we need to tap in twice using a CC. Do we also have to tap out twice on exiting, or just once?

2 people, so tap twice to get on, and twice to get off and you get a small discount on your fare too!

Have your bank card with you just in case, but give it a go. The TIB website does state "bank card" but no hard in trying!

I'm pretty sure you have to pay for kids, but double check with the drive when you get on before you tap your card.

Hi, so when I was there with my parents, I tappen on 3 times so when leaving I needed to tap out 3 times too, right? I tapped twice (on the screen I can see number 1 and then 2) and when I wanted to tap out for the third time there was an error. I tried again and again and finally it tapped out but not with the number 3 but "5". What does it mean? And what happens when I don't tap out when leaving?

It'll charge you I think for the max no of bus hops. Check your bank card that you were charged correctly.

Maybe a taxi? Otherwise you would have to get a bus to Palma and a bus to Soller and change there.

What's the space like on the buses? In Greece we were squashed. So we tap twice for 2 passangers and it actually works out cheaper 😂. Are tgere day or week tickets?

Additional info: Journeys paid with a bank card are not instantly charged on your account, but within a few days in a single amount corresponding to the total number of journeys made. Regarding maestro8 cards, your bank may carry out a pre authorisation of up to €20 to verify that your card is active, do not worry, this amount will be automatically released after the cost of the journeys has been charged.

You can't really walk anywhere from the airport. And lots of beaches are busy! Not sure of the busiest.

Great Video! It's very helpful, thanks! I read there's huge problem recently by using bank card to pay the bus fares. Many were charged 20€ immediately which was much more than it actully was according to the fare system. Is that true? Have you ever met this kinda problem before? Thanks in advance for sharing!

Oh I've not heard about that. You do have to be careful to make sure it taps and bleeps and only do it once to avoid getting double charged though. Otherwise the system works quite well!

First time using when exiting I got error even with multiple tries. After that I was not able to use card in another bus. I was not only one having problems with machine so probably problem with that certain bus. I dont know yet how much the deduction will be. Anyway most likely no savings and the stress having open transaction in your card, maybe need to call card provider... Not worth it on holidays. The busses however are great with aircon. I will use the bussess but not using credit card.

Hello - yes 4 times getting on, then 4 times getting off for your party! Do check the TIB website for costs though as I can't confirm the prices without checking myself!

From what I can see, children have to pay on the TIB buses, however resident children can go free.

I’m not sure about post office cards - does it work the same as a debit card? If so yes (but take some cash just in case). Or maybe worth asking over in the Facebook group what other holidaymakers experiences are.

The bus service in majorca is shocking, the drivers are really rude and uninformed. If you want to get to some places the only way is by car or taxi. The tapping of the card gives a good discount but takes far too long when buses are crammed with tourists. Majorca is a lovely island but got the feeling the locals don't want tourists there. Probably the nicest people met where the looky looky men. Just back today from 10 days in playa de muro the smell there is horrendous from the sulphur producing factory really let's the place down almost impossible to go out and enjoy nights out. Really mixed experience of majorca tbh.
