This CFI gets it when it comes to teaching the flare. "Pull pull pull" is very direct, concise, and an essential part of the flare. Saying "Hold that nose/attitude up" alone can be easily mistaken for holding the yoke/stick in place.

You know he is a good flying instructor when I almost started flying myself while i was listening to this. I was focused looking straight ahead, making sure i was following the instructions, i was aligned correctly and my speed was just at the right mark. Unfortunately just a few seconds before i could take off i had to slow down my speed and parallel park as i had arrived at my destination. If it wasn't for that i would have been able continue with my steps given and i would have taken off for sure. Better luck next time i guess... leave a comment below if you had any luck or couldn't take off like me. Maybe my issue was that i was going a little too fast, if you had an issue let me know, it's good to learn from others as well.

I honestly feel that parachute system is more dangerous because if you push the nose forward and glide as far as possible you have slightly better landing options, as opposed to a parachute just dropping you straight on top of whatever is below you.....not to mention how hard you slam into the ground with that parachute.

Nope. It's all about impact energy. Falling at 17 miles an hour or hitting something going 90 miles an hour. its 37x impact energy.

hello Cirrus Instructor, nice VID!, that's how a CFI should behave while teaching, calm like that!, I'd like to ask a few questions, ( anyone here who flies Cirrus as well, feel free to help me too =D) Well, atm I'm 3 months with no flying at all , but, I've got around 750h flight time in single engine aircrafts such as (c152, c172, P28A, PA18, AB11, AB18), and 23h of twin engine (PA34 seneca II this one as a copilot). What I'd like to ask is: 1 - Around how many hours of practice do you think i'ts necesssary for a standard (not the best but not the worst ) pilot with such hours of experience like me to handle safely and properly a SR22? 2 - People comment that it's kinda tricky to slow the aircraft down during the transition from Cruise flight to IFR/VFR approach, what advise would you give to that? 3 - Does the aircraft take-off in a 700m (2300ft) and 1600ft elevation, grass field, with 3 pax + full tank (90 US GAL) with a good safety margin? well thanks again for such class! keep this excellent way of teaching!, and sorry for the english, I'm froom Brazil here! I love my Cirrus sr22t gts to bits. It's a really nice plane, and it handles steep turns really nicely. The cabin looks really slick and polished and I really love it.

I’ve had both vtail and cirrus. Both great airplanes... cirrus much more modern, but vtail such a joy to fly.. just a pref of owner.... there is always something faster, or cooler...just enjoy the majesty of flight. Fortunately I had an instructor just like this guy. Great vid.

Any recommendations for On The Ground self paced learning? My son has expressed a mild interest in flying and I wanted to find either some Videos for him to watch, book style learning and maybe a good Flight Sim (He's a PC Gamer and and has a nice machine).

Flaps were half. Always. In fact I keep them half until 500' AGL in order to have the best climb gradient to CAPS altitude. This is contrary to what the factory changed a few years back (85 knots and clear of obstacles). What defines an obstacle? a school? All the Navy pilots that i fly with (a few own a cirrus) also keep the same methodology. I can make 500' by the end of the runway on a 3000' strip.

I ain't no cfi but the very last thing I'd do as first instruction is pattern work. Plus, telling a student no need to use the vasi is ????

That wasn't the point. The point is an introduction to real flight. I let all my students takeoff and land on the very first lesson with guidance. Most schools don't even let the student land for way longer. Then we focus on the details. It's called immersion learning. Well documented white papers by MIT and Harvard researchers show that many aspects of cognitive learning of complex tasks can be mastered though kinesthetic immersion techniques as long as the student feels safe from failure or danger. This is why flight simulators work well. Similar to learning a new language, people tend to learn faster if they live in a foreign country rather than learning from a textbook in a class. As a Gold Seal CFII with 11,000+ hours instructing in the Cirrus it works pretty well.

@@artistwithcameras Awesome that your students get to do assisted take-offs and landings at the get-go. But pattern work is hard, low to the ground and requires lots of radio calls at a towered airport. So I would think, get some altitude, get to a practice area, do some slow flight and power off stalls, then go for that first landing. Just my, I'm not a cfi nor even certified internet comment. Really nice plane for an intro flight!

So, I got to log 1.2 hrs in an SR22 today (the reason I was looking for SR22 videos earlier this week). For landing, actually pretty hard to get the plane to slow down to 120 to apply first click of flaps! Then under 100 for full flaps. Landing base and final speed is >= 90 kts and

@@artistwithcameras Thanks! I landed power off every time. Couple landings had to give a kick off power on final to make the threshold but, even then, floated a bit down the runway before touching down.
