Spen valley lad now living on the border to Barnsley, very different accent, had to tone my accent down due to working for multinational companies for 20 years. Fascinating subject.

Definitely love all things yorkshire especially our dialects. That much so we did a song for Yorkshire Day last year!!! Used to live in Sheffield now in Barnsley which is so much broader and also a lot better... We are classed as Dee-Dars here and letss not talk about breadcakes and teacakes !!!

This is uncanny. I'm working with a gentleman from Barnsley; I'm from Beverley myself and yet I find my own original accent returning BIGTIME the more we talk. The glottal stop issue has been under advisement. There are certainly many Yorkshire accents. Of course, possession of a real Yorkshire accent is a big asset here in that London, after all, t'old estuary English is nobbut a Jacobean affectation 🤣aye, wert born in a barn? Put wood in oil.. 🤣🌟👍
