i’ve been tattooing a few months now. sometimes i enter “the zone” and feel just as comfortable pulling lines on real skin as i do fake skin. but other times, especially my first few of a piece, i don’t hit deep enough. really appreciate your videos and insights.

I remember and can relate to this feeling. I used to doubt myself often until I discovered how important confidence actually is when it comes to tattooing. I would say that enough experience on fake skin and human skin will help this issue. It’s more of one of those things that we have to go through and learn the ropes, we have to gain that experience. Stick with it all and things will start clicking. I appreciate your time and support! It means a lot to me. Do your tattoos vary in design or do you specialize in a design?

@@DanielYuck thanks for your response :))) lately, I do mostly cartoony, kawaii, ignorant style designs, with some gothic and lettering stuff too. i also have been noided to enter the world of shading, but have gotten pretty adept at packing color and blacks. so a lot of bold pieces and cutesy pieces. have been doing a lot of american traditional stuff, but i like fine like work too. i draw my own concepts and characters and quirky silly designs, and i like when my friends want my art on them. but i’d love to one day be able to do huge beautiful geometric pieces or floral pieces w vibrant color. right now though i practice lines and RM work religiously bc i figure i shouldn’t bite off too much at once and rage quit entirely. i’m just a scratcher rn but i’d love to be a professional one day.

You're welcome! When you mentioned your style I can vividly imagine what the art may look like and what appeal it has. I love those sort of tattoos designs and concepts. I have thought to myself in the beginning, "Should I specialize in silly tattoos" haha so I can understand wanting to do our own designs. I ended up loving mandalas, dot work, ornamental, style tattoos. I would never have guessed that at the start. I think that the way you are approaching it all is a good healthy way to approach it. Build up your fundamentals, get the fundamentals all the way down and build form that foundation. That is very very if not exactly how I approached it as well. I work on my linework, dotwork, and shading technicalities everyday. I find myself always going back to the basics when I tattoo. Keep doing what you are doing and should you ever have any questions along the way don't hesitate to drop a comment and I will do my absolute best to assist you in the best possible direction.

I've been practicing tattooing for every bit of 6 months now and actually taking an online tattooing course and I have been stuck with getting my handspeed and voltage matched up, but after watching this video, I feel like I can most definitely pull solid lines more easily now after you spelled it out for me and I'm sure many others as well about letting the needle catch. I was beginning to notice this yesterday when I was tattooing myself but at that moment I couldn't put my finger on exactly what I was doing, all I knew is that the sound the tattoo machine was making in the skin was right (I was in the correct layer of skin based off of it staying and the sound it made in the skin is a unique sound that once you hear it, you can't forget it. I appreciate your help with pointing out that important factor along with explaining how to find your own hand speed.

I’m a brand new learner so am trying to learn as much as I can with your videos. I found it very helpful learning to let the needle “ catch” first before moving on with the line. You have a great voice and video style, makes watching a longer video very enjoyable. Thank you #DanielYuck

I remember Franco Vescovi saying 'I'm still learning, and there are those special gifted artist who just don't practice but trying to see the imperfections in their tattoos and trying till they are almost satisfied with it, those are the ones who succeeded' something along the line, in an interview, he was talking about artist like you, I have never in my life seen a tattoo artist who has reached the level of tattooing in 3 years as you have, I imagined where you'll be in 10 years, and the awards, forgive an old man for rattling here lol, 111rs, that's wow, and the way you explained things, is so basic and easy to do a follow along, you put your all in what you do and that's where most of the respect comes from, you love the AI Tenitas, but don't forgét the CNC's😂

Thank you for the continued support you’ve shown my family and myself Psykotik! I appreciate you. I know for certain there are plenty of artist that are far better over me within a 3 year span and I’m ok with that. I’m not ok with not becoming the best version of myself inside and out. I practice often, everyday, I’m always thinking about technical applications and ways I can improve. I figured I take my time with everything and figure out technical aspects that I can use in my tattoos. I don’t want to do bad tattoos so I feel that taking my time with my tattooing journey is very important. I won’t rush it for any reason. I also can’t wait till we transition over to human skin full time. I’ll be bringing a complete new set of videos for you all.

#1 I struggled with line work were my lines were always in and out or light and dark. Which brought me here to square one and refresh. I tuned my coils and charger my rotary and got to work . This helped me with my tuning , needles to tatt with and then my line work with machines. #DanielYuck .. thank you bro for your guidance.

I'm brand new, one thing I learned is that ink matters too. Of course it's all user error but I got a bottle labeled super black thinking Yesss this is gonna be good. Loaded the ink in cartridge, realized it was super thick and heavy viscosity. Even going deep or doing small circles I wasn't achieving bold black lines or color. Looked at the bottled, in fine print, says gray wash. :/ So valuable lesson I learned, research, learn and play with different ink. Switched to black hawk black ink and I was getting consistent solid lines.

Thank you for the kind feedback and your continued support Tattooman ! You are appreciated 🤝 I actually started on a coil machine but I quickly found out that coil machines aren’t for me. I didn’t like the feel of the machine in my hand. It felt awkward for me but I can tattoo with coil machines, it’s a personal preference I believe. I feel you’re going to like or love the Prophet and pen style tattoo machines. They are super smooth and for me easy to work with. They feel more at home for me personally because I grew up using big markers. What style of tattoos do you do on your end?
