Autism At Home is a non-profit initiative by The Hope Project, the non-profit arm of Early Autism Project (EAP) Malaysia. Autism At Home is an online resource platform aimed at providing simplified tips and strategies to help families of children with autism teach and support their children at home. This platform will provide you with online training videos on effective ABA teaching strategies for autism, featuring role plays, pop quizzes, and home assignments.
* This online resource platform is not intended to be a certified Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) course nor is anyone who has completed the training videos here equipped to become an ABA therapist or any other therapist. Viewers of the material on this resource platform are not equipped to train others nor supervise any ABA programmes. Furthermore, the strategies outlined on the website will not be sufficient for a complete ABA programme and we at Early Autism Project Malaysia strongly encourage families to seek qualified ABA treatment from supervised professionals.

Teaching children with autism takes time and patience. Make sure to allow them time to express what they are trying to say. Above all never push them off. Tried to see the situation. Which they are trying to explain.

Thank you for sharing, Melvina. Yes it really does take time and patience. We hope that with these strategies, we can help to raise more awareness on acceptance and that each child learns at their own pace as well!

My sons turning four and has autism, there still deciding on the spectrum.. patience and time is a huge thing I’ve found out.. and don’t worry about the looks in public when he gets over stimulated and acts out.. those people don’t understand and would loose it if it was reversed.. just be patient and don’t get mad when they don’t understand the first time.. I love my boy and he’s helped me a lot also.

Hi, im here because I need help and I think my niece is an autism child because he keeps on showing signs that he is. Searching about and helping him this way (help him learning in school) is all the best I can do as an aunt. So his condition in home: his mother keeps on punishing him everytime he is "not a good kid" or any unusual that kids do, ending up my niece has trauma to his mom. And to his father, he is working hard far from them and only have chance to get home once every 2months. And to explain, my niece's mother has no patience and love to his only child and their environment is really such a mess, such scumbags and very dirty with rude people around. Which leads us to see my niece hungry, undressed (sometimes dressed but very dirty) anywhere EARLY at the morning. We looked for his mother and his mother is no longer found in their area. So we decided to take my niece to his grandfather's house. (Father side of my niece). But since we take him, his mother shown only twice until today. Later we knew, that my niece's mother never sent my niece at Day Care Center in consideration of his age and condition. (HE REALLY NEED TO TEACH AND LEARN!!!) So as an aunt, I can't bare seeing my niece being left to other kids and he really needs understanding and love. This is all I can do, help him with his studies and understand his situation. As I found out-he has no interest in schooling, and he has late progression---his mind, his act even his attitude. That really makes me convinced he is an autism child. I admit, that sometimes when teaching him is very hard and will really left you with a few patience. But I love him and really wanted to help him. I am willing to know everything that can help my niece progression.

Most autistic children display moderately less attachment security than neurotypical children, although this difference disappears in children with higher mental development or less pronounced autistic traits. Thank you for sharing #WearAMask4All

Why you do not recomend the use of flashcards to teach a child with autism?
@autismmalaysia
@autismmalaysia Жыл бұрын
Hello, in a good ABA therapy, we emphasise that learning should be done both at the table and naturalised settings, in a positive, fun environment and individualised to the child. With flashcards learning, some may be done in very rigid or robotic way which may not be helpful for a child's learning. However, there is nothing wrong with using flashcards as a learning tool if it is also done in a fun way, catered to the child. Do check out our Making Learning Fun series here to find out some creative ways to run your sessions! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l8mRarSi1Z_NeZ8.html We hope that this is helpful. If you would like to find out more or discuss some specific strategy for your child, please do not hesitate to reach us at enquiries@autismmalaysia.com and our team would love to get in touch with you. Thank you.
