Because everyone has access to a refractometer... Well, I do.. but most people don't. Also that that means I'll actually have to buy some amethyst and then find out whether or not I wasted my money.

Maybe try to pretend you are the viewer before making the video? All of the technical lingo felt like the video was created for the purpose of showcasing the professional's expertise, not helping the common folk learn or understand anything.

The R.I. measurement doesn't distinguish natural or synthetic amethyst, so it is not a test for "Real" amethyst.

You have to use a microscope or a loupe to separate from synthetic amethyst.

An amethyst as jewelry is too cheap. I bought a whole chunk thats about 3 cm big for 5 euros.

lol...excluding when it is synthetic, then all the physical test will show the same except you check for the inclusions with a microscope. Title should be "How not to tell if it is real for an Amethyst"
