Sometimes they’ll bleach out a one dollar bill and re-print over top of it. So when using the marker it shows the paper is real, but it is still counterfeit.

Found one in the parking lot at Walmart lol. A guy saw me pick it up at first I thought it was his was about to have a problem but it wasn’t & he just laughed lol. I was holding up cars looking at it & did not realize until I turned around 😂🤣😂🤣

Speaking as one whom handles a lot on cash; The pen just detects bleach. Older US bills were very similar to each other, so a common fraud method was to bleach a dollar bill and reprint on it as a larger bill. That way the bill had the correct feeling paper, or cloth. Dont bother with the pen for new bills, bleaching is not how they are counterfeited. My favorite is a knife tip under the blue stripe bands.

Well actually, the pen detects starch, not bleach. But yes I have covered the bleaching method in most of my currency videos. And I agree the paper clip underneath the blue strip is pretty nifty way to tell! Thanks for watching!

I just got paid 13 $2 bills 3 had exact same numbers except the last 2 digits and all the other numbers were the same. 3 were from 1976 with almost exact same numbers but were extremely dirty so was hard to see with marker.

When I used to work at a bank, I found out you'll often see $2 bills with similar ascending serial #'s because they're ordered at banks so seldom that often when you get a set from Brinks etc, they''ll be starchy brand new right off the press with the sequential serial #'s. It's pretty common to see a few of them travel around in circulation together for a while with all their similar serial #'s in a row. This was at least my experience with $2 bills. Wasn't sure if you meant there were some with completely identical #'s cuz that would for sure be fishy lol I got five $2 bills in a payment earlier which has me going down this rabbit hole. I hadn't seen one in like 8-10 years.

I just received 39 of the two dollar bills from 2017A. Because the serial numbers were in sequence and there were so many of them, I thought they were all fake. I looked online for information about them to find out if they were fake or not. What a read was concerning because it stated that the serial number would have 11 letters and numbers in each serial number. I also read about the security strips that were to be to the right of Jefferson. Plus it stated that the large number 2 on the front would change colors. None of this was true about the ones that I have here in front of me. The paper feels correct and the printing also feels raised. I don’t have a currency marker to check them but I feel like I am still safe with the paper. I was however able to see what appears to be different colors of fiber within the paper. I am still curious as to why the websites I reviewed stated that they had 11 numbers and alphabetical characters in the serial number. Well I guess not everyone can be right online.

Yeah so you gotta be careful online these days, a lot of content is AI generated using chatGPT and the likes, so it’s not always accurate. $2 bills have never had a security strip like the $5 through $100 have. It is actually quite common with $2 bills to have sequential serial numbers as they aren’t used all that often, and many times, especially if getting from a bank they are basically uncirculated when you receive them

This moron at this Chinese Food place was counterfeiting $2 bills and others and was giving them as change...I knew it was fishy bc he gave the lady in front of me a bunch and me also...I said no thanks...the paper didn’t feel right, the ink wasn’t raised, the letter from the bank didn’t match the one on the serial number, and there was only one serial number on the bill, among other things...they kept trying to convince me that they were super rare that’s why they looked like that...if that was true you wouldn’t have a ton in the register just giving them out bc they’re worth a lot more if they’re so rare...like I’m some kind of idiot...once I threatened to call the cops they gave my food for free and correct change just to leave...I called them anyway 🤭

I used to work in fast food, so handled a lot of cash, and would always buy any $2 bills people paid with lol. Its really not that many, I'm working on getting a whole bank stack of them (100 bills, $200 worth). Weird flex huh lol
