How to tell if resistors are in series or parallel using colors

this color code style is actually really really interesting and made it so much easier to understand rather than overserving nodes and stuff which hurts my brain but this is super intuitive and makes so much more sense!

This was a great video. Can you please make a series of videos on this particular topic(Combination of resistors).I am facing a hard time in understanding this topic. Also include how to calculate the current and potential difference in series, parallel or mixed combinations of resistors. That's a request....It would be very helpful :)

thanks for the suggestion! I plan to make some stuff over summer break- in the meantime, there are some circuit problems buried in here somewhere, disguised by their problem numbers from the Young and Freedman book

@@KelKelPhysics In a circuit, is a lightbulb basically the same as a resistor? I think they both use current and dissipate power

it's pretty easy use this formula V=IR and you're done btw this is ohm's law V is potential difference I is current And R is resistance

@@jayasmrmore3687 not really since the resistors don't give off any light or something it's just that some basic circuits like a normal bulb circuit can't take much current so we use resistors and yeah bulbs (LEDs) and any advanced electrical appliance that we wish to use has some resistance but we don't consider it in a question except when we are told to

U can always visualise them, u don't have to necessarily use a marker

Nodes are where your wires meet up with each other! If using a road analogy, it's where current can "turn off" onto another road

Just tracing it with your pen or pencil works, too! Or if you have an incredible memory, unlike me, you can keep track of which wire clumps are connected to which resisitor

@@KelKelPhysics it does because ive tried it...this is just part of a problem that i have to solve for class...i get different resistances depending which way i do it. i have to check with a simulation and the correct way is r1 and r2 in parallel and then in series with r3

what if there is a open cct? like using thevenin i find it hard to identify whether it is a parallel or a series

one of the things I find helpful is realizing that you can bend and extend wires to make it easier to look at. In a lot of cases, though, parallel and series isn't enough to fully solve the circuit- that's where Kirchoff's rules come in
