How to test gold for its purity. And give it a value

Here is how anyone can value their gold, whether it is a gold nugget or a piece of gold jewelry. Also you can determine weather or not it is gold at all. In this video we will be using a "Scratch test" where we scratch some of the gold onto a piece of black slate and use different acids to see what acid dissolves the gold. once you know which acid dissolves the scratch of gold, you can figure out its Karat value. from there it is a simple online tool to determine the value of the piece of gold. What is it worth on the market can be a bit different the the actual gold value. As nuggets can sell for more than what the gold is worth.

Hey Dan, I am a disabled veteran forced to retire due to my injuries. As a parent of two (4-6) I have been looking for fun ways to get my kids outside learning and having fun. Thanks Dan Hurt !! I bought a diamond tester that came with all of the chemicals to test medals plus the black plate. It also came with no instructions, and I never knew what the small black plate was used for. NOW I KNOW! I’m gonna go out in the shed, see if i can figure out where i throw it.

My grandfather found a 60g nugget in Africa long time ago, he wasn't even looking for gold, just crossing a street he kick it and noticed it was very heavy. How it got there? We will never know. Incredible luck! hope it´s my turn now! :)

Great video Dan showing how to properly use Gold test acids. I metal detect old resort areas on lakes here in Michigan and I occasionally find Gold rings old enough that they have no karat markings. Test acids allow me to confirm Gold is present and approximately what karat it is. Keep up the great work you have earned my subscription many times over!
