How often do you test your hot tub water?

Well done thanks for the video we are getting our first hot tub being delivered this weekend! I want to make sure I know how to keep the water fresh and in the best state as possible.

Hi Matt. I want to say your videos are some of the best right now on the hot tub market. You are the only one that speaks with enthusiasm as opposed to everyone else who sounds like they are reading a script or "ummming" us to death. Keep up the good work. Just a few comments: 1) Stabilizer is a pool parameter ( protects against sanitizer loss from the sun's UV rays, no sun in a hot tub with a cover ) and is not a factor in hot tubs. You are using pool and spa test strips but when you test a hot tub you should ignore the stabilizer at the bottom ( confuses people all the time). The manufacture AquaCheck should make it more clear, the writing on the bottle is so small, most people can't read it. 2) When you did the drops it is advised that the dropper is 100% vertical. It doesn't make a lot of difference but the drop does change size when you angle or shake the reagent drops. This is probably being nit picky but hey, that is the most accurate way to test. Keep up the good work! 20,000 views in the hot tub or pool industry is a lot for KZfaq. PS Are you in the industry or are you a consumer that just really knows his stuff?

I just replaced my spa motor but the high speed isn’t as powerful as the old motor. I’d say less than half the power Any idea and what would cause this? I put black wire on L white on C and red on H Thanks

I currently have three different brands of test strips but find ph especially difficult to feel confident about as I get three different results. About to buy a liquid test kit. My local Leslies water tester is too often not working and the staff there rarely will answer the phone.

Sooo, does the yellow OTO test both chlorine and bromine? Or strictly just chlorine? Also, whyyy are you not supposed to use your fingers to plug the top of the kit when you shake it up? I somehow ended up losing the yellow cap, soo ive just been using my finger to plug it while shaking. Does it really cause that much of change or difference?

The First Rule of hot tubs and spas is “no glass containers anywhere on the pool deck - plastic only”. Hard to watch him balance the glass on the wet curved edge of a slippery hot tub shell. Newbie mistake

You forgot the alkalinity and we don't test for chlorine in hot tubs we test for bromines.They are similar ,but react different to the Hot water .

Lies. Get some test strips for a couple bucks and do another Google to learn how to read them, if necessary. The idea of grabbing some water and bring it to somewhere is such garbage.
