Completely unrelated to car audio, but this helped me solve a ground loop issue with my turntable. Checked my continuity and found that my ground wire was bad. Replaced the ground and now no more hum. Thanks!

This would work for me if my rca end wasn’t on the other side of my car at the back of the headunit. But this is an amazing write up. Good stuff bro.

When you're checking for continuity, you should also be checking for isolation to detect any shorts. Center pin to center pin (hope for beep), then center pin to shield (hope for no beep). Shorts in RCA cables are common and can cause damage to your amplifiers.

Hey bro I just got a new sundown 2000 watt amp. Hooked it up where my old amp was. Same everything. Except new amp barely pushed the speaker with gains all the way up. Like it isn't getting enough signal. Rip it out, put old amp back in and it bangs. I have cheap RCA's. If it was an RCA problem wouldn't it he the same for my cheap amp as well as the new one?

Should there be any DC voltage on the preout for subwoofer output on new pioneer double din? It reads 22v DC at all volumes.

Hey man quick question in my car while I'm bumping it its fine then i can be driving and with the movement of the car the sub has less thump to it and its really noticeable, what to you think it could be? Lose ground somewhere or bad rcas? I have the big 3 done/ high output alternator.

Why, when I put my rca jacks halfway in the speakers play from the amp. When I put them all the way in the amplifier, I get no sound. Could this be bad inputs on the amp?

When you cut the wire, you created an open circuit, a short would be both wires touching each other.

my rca cable left channel wire suddenly not working, i tried right channel rca cable only to left amp channel works fine, so it must be the rca left channel problem. How to fix? Thanks.

okay, i have been searching information from everywhere and cant find it. on my pioneer (MVH-S320BT) has weird problem, i tried to measure that "pre out" voltage from the rca cabels and on the stereo own terminal and i get only 0.020V and i have tried other multimeters so the problem is not on tools. im sure everything is right on wiring and everything "should" be unbroken. im sure i have done everything right on measuring but sill doesnt get that 0.2V reading. i hope someone can give some answer for that. and my other problem in my amp (sd1600.1d evo4 2ohm) il have measured the out put voltage from that and i get only about 14V (AC) out, thats when the volume from stereo is 3/4 and gain is almost max but when i put some bass boost i get the max voltage out, what is promised on the amp manual. so far im thinking is that stereo low out put voltage causing low out put voltage to my amp aswell? thanks for help already!

Take jumper wire connect to ur main unit earthing and other wire connect to ur rc ground

you didnt create a short circuit, its an open circuit ..just on a point of correction

I know it's an open circuit. It was representing a short just to show an example of it being a break in the path

Short would be both wires touching each other. Tip to shield would ohm to each other. Good video though

@@jptheinstallguy you represented an open circuit, no big deal. If you let both wires touch, that would create a shorter path for electricity to flow, or short circuit.
