Hi Abigail, sorry to hear that. It’s unfortunate I can’t give a proper response to solve your problem. However, when I experience difficulty in rolling the machine handle I apply machine oil on it. To smooth the process. You can try this too!! If it doesn’t work then I think you need a professional

You skipping a few steps darling, I can see you're experienced but for new starters or should I say by the book that would be a fail. The tension is not right and you will end up getting cotton breakdowns all the time. I'm a learning sewing machine mechanic.
