When the button is installed, does it vibrate on the soundboard? Do you hear any buzzing from the button?

Nope, no buzzing! The string tension holds it really tight against the soundboard.

You can't afford 12 buttons at $11.95? A pack contains 12 black String Buttons, an instruction card, and a link to the video instructions on Dusty's site all for a mere $11.95. I just ordered a pack to have on hand for emergencies at a gig.

Can they be used on all lever harps or just Dusty Strings?

All lever harps! The only strings they don't work well for are the thickest gut strings on a pedal-tension harp like the Boulevard or the Ogden. The fourth octave of pedal gut is difficult to do, and the 5th octave is too big to fit through the holes in the buttons.

Well, my buttons came yesterday and today one of my strings bit the dust while I was playing out (fortunately at the end of the gig).

What is the maximum string diameter? I’m thinking of the 5th octave mono filament gut strings on my Lyon and Healy

Maximum diameter is .080" or 2 mm. We found that they worked well for third octave and above with pedal gut strings, but our String Buttons testers found it frustrating trying to use them in the fourth octave and below. Those strings are so stiff that using a button was almost harder than tying the knot.
