Oh cool! Thanks for explaining! I was so confused! At 4:30 Uncle Ben said Kumala was going to a friend's petting zoo in North Texas but then in the next sentence he said Kumala will stay here. I thought maybe it was a mistake? But it makes more sense that he changed his mind and Savesta is leaving instead.

Dear Sweet Grandson Uncle Ben. Retired Horticulturist Chic Daisy here. I think the plant you thought was alfalfa is Sweet Woodruff (also called Galium odoratum or Asperula odorata) used in May wine. It's edible and smells great. It is perennial. You might look into planting alfalfa. Check with your County Extension to see if the perennial will grow in Waco as a treat for your menagerie. As for your dream of a pumpkin farm. Keep your animals off. Irrigation is a MUST!!! During your heat waves that means heavy watering daily or overnight. Squash love water and fertilizer. Not too much nitrogen. Intercrop with bushbeans and corn for a 'Three sisters' approach. Good luck!

I respectfully disagree, sweet woodruff has white flowers and a different leaf structure. Uncle Ben's plants look like Medicago due to the yellow flowers and clover like foliage.

Skunks are actually fairly chill. Them spraying is a last resort since once they do it, It takes about ten days for them to do it again. Like most animals they're not in a hurry to start beef, and will start hissing or puffing up as a warning before resorting to spraying. Give them their distance and you'll be fine, and most animals seem to know this. They can be even be kept as pets legally in some states, though they needed to have the scent glands removed. From what I've been told by people who have had them, though this was many years ago so I might be misremembering, without the scent glands they're basically cats with terrible eye sight.

Patrick is about the most precious thing. I know deer-type species get a bad rap in the US but man I love em.
