Just started working on my forehand drives after 25 years of disc golf. So many different styles. Always good to get some additional tips and tricks. Thanks BigJerm & Dark Horse. Hopefully, we will see you guys at Worlds here in UT. Not sure you will read this but also would like to bring your attention to the Worlds oldest PDGA player from my hometown, Santa Maria, CA. Check out Don Shinn. He will be turning 100 years old in October. He is planning to play in the Senior PDGA Tournament in Pasadena, CA. He played in it last year. I had the pleasure of playin with him while I was back home this past summer. He is out every morning at 8 throwing 27 holes at Waller Park or Preisker Park. Crazy thing is he only throws a Mamba. Great guy. Tried reachin out to Innova about it but got no where. I believe now a Innova Rep is keeping an eye on him to make sure he will be ready for the Senior PDGA tournament. There is discussion of holding a tournament for his Birthday in October. Hoping to get some Pros out to play since it is not to often you get to play with a 100 year old. Love to see you guys on the tee pad with Don.

I would love to see Jerm talk about the flick/release point. I feel myself and others have a tendency to flick late or have an awkward quirk where I can flick drivers clean, but mids and putters are a lot tougher to flick and release clean without wobble. Great video though. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
@bulldawgirwin8384
@bulldawgirwin8384 4 жыл бұрын
For wobble, the trick I learned with mids/putters is keeping my palm facing up on the release, and more wrist action. I found if I put too much "arm" in to it, I would get wobble. It's a shot I feel I'm starting to get the hang of, and those were the 2 things that made a difference for me.
@chrispreperato5562
@chrispreperato5562 4 жыл бұрын
@@bulldawgirwin8384 Yeah, and he touched on that in talking about his follow through. A lot of people get away with a snappier forehand release, myself included, because they are throwing an OS fairway driver and hides the flaw. Then I bust out a putter or mid-ranger for a close approach and I flip the thing over.

Love the throws. So smooth, technical, and most importantly, so straight. I would be quite worried about throwing that far because some of my throws would inevitably veer off to the right and into the moving traffic. It would be a disaster. Idk if you still need help with this, but as a beginner start with understable discs because beginners usually don't have as much power and they will fly straighter and further. Once they start turning right on you, transition from understable to more stable and overstable discs because you have enough power to get them flying straight or even turn them over a little bit. Hopefully this helps!

focus on the way it releases off your hand. Don’t try to just snap thru it. Take a putter outside your house and throw it super short away from you, like around 75 ft or something like that, just throw it flat and let your fingers spin the disc. Work with that until you can put pop on the disc. Honestly it’s just going slow with it and getting reps. You have to unlearn other throwing motions (from other sports.) and learn how the disc is to release off of the hand. Eventually with power the disc is poping off and ripping out of the hand but that is a disc golf throw whereas if you try to throw it hard with bad mechanics it won’t release perfectly. Slow is good for this
