There are many ways to tie topwater assist hooks, and this is mine. Easy to tie and super stong.

What works best for me is using hot water to shrink the tube, evenly. I put fresh water in mug, and then place it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, to heat the water. Place the assist hook with the shrink tube on it, into the hot water for 30 seconds. The process works better than a hair dryer, flame or heat gun.

Can’t you just used 200lb braid instead of Hollow Core line?

Have you tried using 200lb braid? How does it work? I use 340lb metal core assist cord. It works great for large tuna and toothy critters.
