I feel like I should point out this is NOT the correct way to do this. When you put the string on while the yoyo is apart you risk the string getting caught in the screw threads during reassembly. Something which did actually happen to you, evident by the way you were able to wind the yoyo. This will stop the yoyo from sleeping. You should ALWAYS put the string on while the yoyo is full assembled to avoid this.
