Beautiful installation and well described process. I like that you included details of how you measured the pieces so I can use your technique on my next installation. What is your source for Marmoline (sp??) My supplier has very limited supplies of stone/quartz for shelves and soap boxes, usually just in white and cream. Can you readily get different colors?

Hi DB. Thanks for for your kind words and for watching! We are located out of Stouffville Ontario and use a few different suppliers for Marmiline, and have a variety of colours such as black, grey, almond, and various shades of white. Some colours need to be ordered in, but usually only take a couple of days. The suppliers we use are: Patti-Lynne interiors Ontario Tile Tilemaster aurora The Village Tile Company

what else can i use same as marmaline? from local stores? everything i can find has beveled edges. i dont want beveled edges
@stronorbathworks81954 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Many tile suppliers around us sell Marmiline with one beveled side and one flat side. The tough part is finding one that is finished (polished) on the flat side. If you can’t find any that are polished on the flat edge, you can use a high grit buffing pad to polish the edge and then use a a quality high gloss sealer/impregnator and that should get you close. If you can’t find any Marmiline without the bevel, you could try a rip cut on a wet saw to remove the bevel, and then use the process just described. We hope this helps and please let us know how you make out!

Do YOU caulk the shower wall corners and floor to wall locations or do you grout?
@stronorbathworks81955 ай бұрын
We use caulking in these locations. Any “change of plane” must be caulked. Grout will crack in these locations over time. Thanks for watching!

Is an overhang a bad idea? Would this get mildew around underneath ?
@stronorbathworks8195 Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, the caulking we use is Keisel Oka premium sealant. It is a 100% silicon caulking rated for interior or exterior use and boasts anti-fungal properties. In our experience, we have had no issues with any sort of mildew, however we would always encourage viewers to carefully read the instructions on all products to ensure it is the correct choice for their particular application. Furthermore, cleaning your shower from time to time with an appropriate cleaner will also greatly reduce any potential for mildew growth, mineral staining, or soap scum build up. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@stronorbathworks8195thanks for the reply. I am planning niche now and have seen some with the quartz bottom piece at maybe an 1/2” - 1” overhang . I noticed your stone pieces are all flush around the border. My question is which would an overhang bottom stone piece lead to issues/gunk buildup? Thanks

@@alexrein5838 Hi Alex, sorry for the delay in our response. We don’t leave overhangs that large on our niches or benches, so it would be hard for us to give reliable advice. With that being said, regular cleaning should eliminate the chance of any mildew buildup.

Why caulk around the niche and not simply grout it along with everything else?
@stronorbathworks8195 Жыл бұрын
Hi John, it is not necessary to caulk around the outer perimeter of the niche, however, sometimes the cut tiles do not line up perfectly with each other or there can be small amounts of chip out depending on the quality of tile and the quality of the wet saw blade. For these reasons, we find that a nice clean, thin bead of caulking does a nice job of concealing any of these imperfections. You are correct though, simply grouting is sufficient.

Niche layout look bad sliver thats happen with prefabe niche i never use that i customise so i got nice cut all around
@stronorbathworks81952 жыл бұрын
Hi Marco, good eye. The reason I could not make the niche larger to eliminate the sliver on the left side is because I had to install a grab bar the customer wanted between the niche and the shower glass. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Not bad at all. Every job has its own challenges and most people who watch are not aware of. I would give 10/10 to this specific job.
