Very nice job. I used the same profile instead of a bull nose tile at the end of the shower wall. I found it to be less forgiving in that area because the thinset grit and the material thickness raise it off the wall slightly. This causes your wall tile to be at a very slight angle on the wall. Combine that with the cut edge of the ceramic tile is slightly thicker than the factory edge and not the tile sits slightly proud of the profile. Fitting you to pray the grout line will make it look somewhat acceptable. On the shower niche you can use all factory edges and fill in behind the profile with thinset so it has a much cleaner look. If I had to do it all over again I would have special ordered a profile to match the cut edge of my tile. No one seems to stock a variety of sizes in the polished nickel. Just pointing that out for your viewers. Your installation looks perfect.

You can use thin spots of construction adhesive to get the whole profile channel against the wall tight, with temporary screws before tiling anything and it shouldn't have any bump out issue. I just remove most of the back butter thinset from the channel thickness part of the tile.

I'm sure that shower will hold up for years , well done...I would say however that you don't really need to make those dog ears on sill, as once you install the side nitche pieces you would have a half inch dog ear naturally without notching and I believe that's enough without having to worry about them ever being broken off. Also when installing the mosiac tiles on nitche back you should space a slight joint against sill , this way the grout or better yet silicone has a space to go in. I never butt tiles to tiles without a slight gap.. .

It's a good video. I was surprised to see the chipped edges between the tile and the profile, or why you wouldn't take a diamond pad and polish those tile chipped edges before setting the tile. Grout doesn't cover chips. Also that the anchor legs weren't embedded in thinset before setting tile over them. Anyway, still hard work and looks good.
@Methodical2
@Methodical2 2 жыл бұрын
It looks like between the thinset on the wall and the backbutter of the tile, there will be more than enough thinset to secure the trim.
