HEY DJs!!! Wanna learn HOW TO TONE PLAY in 30 seconds (or more)?!?
Know that feeling when you try to ask the internets questions like "how to find tone plays" or "how to be in tune when doing tone plays", but never really get the right answer?
Worry no more! I'm here to help!
I proudly present my biggest project to date and I hope all the DJ community can benefit from it.
It's my look on the ground basics of tone play transitions.
The tone play recipe.
The process that you will be able to remember and apply to make various tone play transitions on your own, without randomly playing with tracks and trying to get lucky.
It's long... I know. But it's not longer than your average school class, so get yourself a cup of whatever you like to sip on, sit back, focus and enjoy!
To give y'all a little idea of what's inside, here's a table of contents:
0:00 - Ultra fast presentation of the method that's gonna be explained throughout the video.
0:30 - Introduction/first thoughts.
2:27 - Super important tip before getting started - MUST WATCH!
4:00 - Step 0: What do we need?
4:44 - FINDING OUR FIRST TONE PLAY - MOST DETAILED PART. Step by step explanation of the whole method sneak peaked at the beggining.
4:44 - Step 1: Picking the track that we are going to play.
5:30 - Step 2: Setting up the cue points and counting different notes in the melody.
9:56 - Step 3: Finding other tracks that will make the transition possible.
11:55 - Step 4: Preparing potential first track for the transition. Setting up cue points, counting notes.
13:40 - Step 5: Comparing both tracks and finding out if they use the same notes.
15:56 - Step 6: Recreating the melody = doing our first tone play.
17:04 - FINDING ALTERNATIVES - more tracks for the same transition [including a failed attempt].
17:04 - Finding second tone play.
17:51 - What to do when there's too many sounds and not enought pads on your gear.
20:35 - Comparing tracks for the second tone play and playing it.
21:37 - Failed attempt on finding the third tone play.
23:02 - Finding third tone play.
25:23 - Conclusions thus far.
25:59 - FINDING HARDER TONE PLAYS
25:59 - Preparing the main track to play.
28:12 - Making of the first tone play.
31:46 - Making of the second tone play.
34:57 - Cool thing about the tracks from the second part - they can also be used for the tone play from the first part!
36:36 - Accidently finding 3 tone plays for... sorry I had to do it ;D
37:01 - Final word.

How to set tone play in vitual dj?
@Ragi143
@Ragi143 3 жыл бұрын
Please make a video on how to open a club dj set and what type of songs to play in the whole set. For example. For a set of 4 hours..how to play the music -fast music/slow music/ or other music during the whole set? For how much time I have to play fast music? when to play slow music and for how much time before you jump in the fast music again and etc.? I hope you understand me. Because I get confused in how and when to change from banging songs to slow songs and when is the right time?
@69Beats
@69Beats 3 жыл бұрын
It mostly comes down to crowd reading, but it's an interesting topic for sure, making a tutorial about it would be really really hard, but I have an idea... it's just that idea requires clubs to open again which I have no idea when will happen here in Poland.

Do the 2 tracks have to be the exact same key, or for example can you use 4A with 5A?
@69Beats
@69Beats 5 жыл бұрын
If you're in exact same key then it's the easiest, but of course if you feel comfortable you can play with different keys. It's just that the further you go with the key, the less possible is to find the matching tone plays.
