In this video series, we will show you the complete tooling of a floral leather tooling pattern. The goal of these videos is to show you my complete tooling process when stamping leather tooling patterns.
This video covers the following tools and the order that I use them in:
-Horizontal lined thumbprint (Barry King Small)
-Leaf Liner (Barry King)
-Crescent Shell (Barry King small)
-Wiggler Veiner (Craft Japan)
-Seed Burst (Craft Japan-Barry King Calls a Seed Shell Fill)
-Mule Foot (Barry King small)
Here is a link to a couple websites where you can find some of these tools:

Don, you are an amazing craftsman and a wonderful teacher. I did leather craft through highschool then stopped to make a living in the plumbing business. After watching you I would have been happier making saddles, chaps, spurs and other projects. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent! 🤠

Don, thank you again for your time and sharing of knowledge. Today I learned I jumped too soon into modifying my leaf liner into a center liner tool. I guess a order from Mr. King is in order now.

After watching the first video, I ordered a set of crowners, don't know how I have tooled so long without them, really speeds up beveling and makes the flowers nice and round. Great videos. Enjoyed this one for the thumbprint usage.

I thought the mules foot at the end was going to make it look busy. But it really does draw your eye to the flow. If anything, it's making it less busy by accenting the flow. Like an oboe in an orchestra.

Thanks Don !! I've only been tooling for about a year, and I have taught myself by reading and watching videos, and your videos are by far the most informative that I have found. I have made all the mistakes you address in this video, and it explained why I was having to go back and clean up my beveling. Hopefully I won't make the same mistakes again....not likely tho . The Barry King tools are a little out of my price range at the time, but Jim Linnell's are little easier to swallow and my starter kit is mostly craft tool, craft japan and seem to be doing a good job for this novice. Thank you for sharing your art with us and I look forward to viewing a lot more of them. Just wanted to add that I'll be turning some of my camo tools into crowners, thanks for that money saving tip!

thank you for taking the time to make these videos, they are very informative and provide the inspiration to start tooling. one question the lifters or undercuts that you use from barry king are those the standard ones or the extra steep ones?

Don I have been following, I reduced its size to put on my passport wallet I’m making. My question to you is, is it harder to tool on #4-5 weight leather versing 5-6 or 7-8. I am having problems with smoothness, cutting and beveling. I’m doing a practice piece first. Thank you for taking the time to do this series. Mike.

They are also called petal lifters, I have the old fashioned kind in a handle, easier for me to control since I do the whole leaf or petal.✝️⚾🙃

I just checked the link in the description and it went straight to the form to get the pattern. I didn’t see a CVS survey. Not sure how you are getting that, but no you should not be getting anything like that.
