Hello captain, how do you tie the hooks you use for tuna fishing?
@CFalicon
@CFalicon 5 ай бұрын
For anything over 80lbs I usually crimp. For anything 80 and under I tie a uni or palomar knot.

I was looking at that monster ledge 200 St But I thought it was a stick bait rod I wasn't aware you could work poppers with that rod
@CFalicon
@CFalicon Жыл бұрын
It’s a great popper rod. The tip is plenty stiff to work poppers. The el maestro 77h is another good option for throwing poppers.

@@CFalicon Last year I bought the wrong rod it's more of a stick bait rod It has a really slow Taper and it pulls poppers underwater So this year i'm gonna try again But I don't wanna buy The wrong rod again So you think I should go with the 200 ST I don't need the Monster ledge 250 or 250ST
@CFalicon
@CFalicon Жыл бұрын
Any one of those rods will work fine for poppers. The weight is more about the size class of fish you’re looking to target. If you’re targeting the 250-300 lb class then yes you should go heavier than the 200st but if not they’d be overkill.

Hello captain, what length do you recommend for a spinning rod for tuna fishing?
@CFalicon
@CFalicon 6 ай бұрын
For casting I like 7'4" to 7'8", for jigging 5'2"-5'4" usually. Different rods for each type of fishing.

You mention braid brands, what's the PE# rating or how many lbs though?
@CFalicon
@CFalicon Ай бұрын
I'm typically fishing 60 lb Cortland C16 hollow or 60 lb solid braid for jigging. 60 lb seems to give the best line strength to line capacity for 10k-14k sized reels. For 18k and 20k most guys typically go up to 80 lb.

Do you run a Twisty leader when you run a Stickbait/Sinking Lure and RonZ?
@CFalicon

Yes I'll still run a twisty for a sinking lure at times, but if I'm trying to be very stealthy I'll go with a wind on leader of 60 lb fluorocarbon

What solid braid (non hollow core) would you recommend? And what lb test?
@CFalicon

Varivas make good solid braid as does the diawa J braid x8. I like 60 lb for the 10k-14k sized reels. Larger you could go 80 lb
