I tried it through the extension in question in the video. But the following situation happened, this extension was updated and gives me two scripts, one for testing the other for use in google tag manager. When I use it, it only transfers the values of the product where I created it, when I add another product to the cart, the price of the first product remains in the variable. How to fix it? Tell me please!

Hi Julian, thanks for this (and your many other) informative videos. I have a slight problem, hoping you might be able to help! I have created a variable that uses JS to scrape the value of the order total, the issue is that it's scraped from a page before the final check out event, thus when the event fires on the checkout button the variable returns 'null'. Is there any way to store this variable to call it up on a later page/tag?

Hi, thanks for the video.However, i would like to ask abotu the part at 3:40, coz i can see "gtm4wp.orderCompletedEEC:" , but not the transcationID , transaction total....... . I have turn on " Track enhanced e-commerce " on the plugin. Any reason why is that the case ? Thanks !

Hi, that is a great tutorial. What if I have a subscription model with a contract for a year where the user can choose to pay monthly, quarterly or yearly? I just want to track the yearly revenue for comparability. So the transaction total would be taken *12 if he chooses monthly. How could I achieve this?

Hi Julian, using the scrapping method, I am told in Facebook event debugging - that the value is undefined! This is strange because when using debug and preview mode, I can cleary see the value is defined (it has no symbols) just a number which to my knowledge is correct. Do you know what could be causing this? I just feel so close, but something is holding it back! Many thanks, Dáire

Regarding javascript method, in Spain we use a dot "." for thousand and coma "," for decimals (eg €2.400,50). How can I change the variable builded in order to capture the total amount and send it as 2400.50? document.querySelector("#carritoext_importetotal").innerText.match(/^.{5}(.*).{0}/i)[1].trim()

Building the custom code doesn't seem to work anymore. Trying to preview the page returns this error in relation to the DomTransactionValue variable: " Error at line 4, character 6: This language feature is only supported for ECMASCRIPT_2019 mode or better: Optional catch binding."

Am using a similar method for pulling number of 'shares' on an article. However the event value field in GA adds up the values for every tag fired, instead of replacing it i.e. for an article viewed 2 times the event value becomes 30 - though number of shares are 15. Can you suggest a workaround?

Hi Julian, great videos! One thing I'm still confused about, is the 'data layer' creation. Why would you need to create a second 'data layer' variable if the 'gtm4wp.orderCompleted' 'data layer' already exists in your gtm account ?

the dataLayer already exists by default (GTM creates it). What I do is simply push values that I want to use into it. I do this with a plugin

You need to go into the plugin 'google tag manager' bei thomas geiger, then Integration, then Woocommerce, then check the first 4 fields. That did it for me

Hi Julian, first of all thank you very much for all your knowledge, it's priceless! This movie helps me very much, but I have one problem. Everything seems to be ok like in your movie but my converison values isn't transfer to Google Analytics. I had to choose way with DomTransactionValue, because I don't have e-commerce script. In the preview mode in GTM the conversion value is counted, but I can't see its in the GA for my goals. Any ideas why? I''ll be very grateful for help.

Hi Julian - I'm using Gravity Forms (and Stripe Add-on) to sell a service online. There are multiple pricing levels. I have my conversion tracking on the Thank You page but I'm looking for a way to track my conversion values, which differ based on which pricing plan was selected. Do you have a way to get a Data Layer value for the checkout total on a Gravity Forms submission?

not too familiar with Gravity Forms, but you should be able to push the values via PHP into the dataLayer. A good WP Dev would be able to do it.

Thanks Julian - I ended up creating a confirmation page and passing through the form data to display on that page, i.e. Checkout Total. Then I used the data scraping method you showed and it seems to be working quite well. Great videos Julian!

no, even with a plugin you still need to setup the tags correctly

once you say that implement tag manager with new installation (not old one as new one is better). New installation is not supported by DuracellTomi plugin but on the other hand you use that old not supported plugin DuracellTomi plugin as a reference or base of your videos. It is utter nonsense.

either change the dataLayer or build a custom JavaScript variable that uses your exiting dataLayerVariable and parse it into a number. You can use the parseInt() or parseFloat() command

@@MeasureSchool does google accept number value of 89 for example? Or it has to be exactly 89.00? Because if it's 89.00, you parse float and it gives you 89.its driving me nuts. Tested a few times, everything looks good, but transactioon value has no decimals, and I do not know if google will track it as a conversion

Hi! I was just following the instructions of this video and just noticed that the data layer is not giving the "transactionTotal" and the other details that the video shows. I have already installed the plugin mentioned in wordpress (I'm using Woocommerce) the tags are working, but not receiving the other info in order to follow the rest of the steps. What am I doing wrong?

@@MeasureSchool Thank you SO MUCH. The only problem now I'm facing is that the total you mentioned appears under another array (I believe what it's called). So this is how I see the total under gtm4wp.orderCompletedEEC: totals: { total: 3.00, currency: 'EUR', subtotal: 3.00 } when I add total as the Data Layer Variable Name in GTM, nothing shows up because total is under totals. How can I pick total if it's a sublevel of totals? Thank you so much

I managed to find solution. For an array (which I believe it's called), they need to be matched using dots so it would be orderData.totals.total Thank you

there is no one way to do it. It depends on the CMS or Programming language your backend is written in.

Julian, I have a bit of a challenge for one of your next videos. How would you add a column to Adwords in Google Analytics to specifically showcase a specific conversion name and its corresponding conversion cost? The conversion is defined in Adwords Conversion and is not a Google Analytics Goal.

Hello, I am using DOM Scraping Total Amount for orders. However, my currency is VND and the amount is displayed like 90,000 (Ninety thousand). There is a thousand separator and I believe GTM doesn't consider this kind of string which is integral value. I have followed the instruction in this video but nothing happens. This is the code from GTM Variable Builder extension: document.querySelector(".total-line.total-line-subtotal>.total-line-price>.order-summary-emphasis").innerText.match(/^(.*).{5}/i)[1].trim() It leads to no event value in GA. Anyone here help me figure out this issue? Thanks in advance.

It's possible to solve this with JavaScript manipulatio of the value, but it would require some JS knowledge. If you don't know JS well I'd recommend to get some help from a Developer

your 'DomTransactionValue' variable returns a STRING value. That's not valid. It must return an INTEGER value if you want to use it for GA event. developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/eventTrackerGuide#setting-up-event-tracking
