Out of all the social media apps I have, a period tracking app is the least of my concern for the government to know. Just fucking take my ovulation information, I'll be damned if I have to make a manual calendar just for my period. Nobody got time for that.

@@swankyangeloUnless you mark in the app that you‘re pregnant, there are many reasons why you don‘t input a period in an app or why you don‘t even get a period. Nobody is going to dig that deep.

That’s not the best logic. Women have miscarriages all the time. 1 in 5 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Getting your period when you were previously pregnant is NOT proof of an abortion. There are many reasons to miss your period as well that don’t include being pregnant. Like being on hormonal birth control or getting an iud. Even PCOS and Endo can cause irregular cycles. Personally breastfeeding stops mine. So it doesn’t make sense to say any info from a period app means anything

@swankyangelo I've forgotten to update my period days on the app for years now. So far, no government officials had knocked on my door to ask about my "aborted" child yet. As a government official myself, I can promise u the government bodies are so underfunded and overworked to give a damn about what you do on EVERY period tracker on the market. Sorry, it's such a stupid assumption.

@@imsorrybut- I’m sorry but, you clearly aren’t a government worker who’s in “the need to know” category. Just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean something isn’t under consideration by the gov. You just don’t understand their data collection whys and wherefores. It does seem so innocuous in our realm of everyday but as a collective the info gleaned gages their end goal info in projects that we’ll never know about. Say if a majority of young gals end up with 15 day cycles, to you, no biggy, to them something that was given unknowingly is now being assessed as working because perhaps the goal was ovulation suppression. But they should let you know as a government worker what they are doing, got it!

This is the ‘calendar method’ and is really only good for if you have consistent regular periods that aren’t affected by real life. A pregnancy counts back to "first day of last period," so 4 weeks (even though in reality only 14 days or so) when you miss the new cycle.
@cd2290
@cd2290 11 ай бұрын
Yes. To add some details, pregnancy counts from the first day of your last period not the missed one. If an average cycle is 28 days: days 1-5 are bleeding, then another 7-9 days before ovulation around day 14 of the cycle. Sometime plus or minus a few days is when intimacy would allow for fertilization. Somewhere within 48-72hours after intimacy (cycle day: 16-17 in this example) fertilization takes place and then another 3 days or so implantation (around day 20). This is when pregnancy hormones start kicking in to prevent new cycle. Those are the hormones the pregnancy tests are supposed to detect potentially up to 3 days before or any time after the missed cycle. This is approximately days 24-35 (3.5-4.5 weeks) from when your last period started. Pregnancy count would be that you are 4-5 weeks pregnant at the time one could find out (but implantation and shifts in hormones only occurred at week 3.5-4). Not to get political, but states that have a 6 week time limit for abortion may only have 5-10 business days to seek medical care, confirm testing, discuss options and make a decision. That’s nearly impossible when appointments are booked solid for months or if someone has no or minimal healthcare.

5 days is average I believe, but it can be as short as 2-3 days or as long as 7-8 days. Average cycle length is 28 days, but can be a few days shorter or longer, and can vary from month to month, especially if you’re in the first few years of getting your period. Ovulation is 14 days before your period starts. Pain shouldn’t stop you from being able to do any activities, e.g. going to school/work or going out of the house. If it does I would suggest seeing a doctor, they may be able to give you pain medication, and if you have painful/heavy periods you should look into the pill or other forms of hormonal birth control to help manage it.

When you say blood do you mean like a flow or when your spotting before the flow. Do you count after your cycle where the blood stops but you're still getting the spots after as the end of your period or when the flow stops. Thank you

Get a calendar journal and write what you can in it about your period length and buy test strips for ovulation to test throughout the month excluding your period week or days. You will eventually see a pattern.

I tried this when I first got my period at 13 and it worked so well. As I got older my periods became erratic and I never knew when I would get it. When I was 16, just about 17 I started getting 2 periods a month for 7 days each. That lasted for 3 months before I was prescribed birth control which made me vomit so much that I stopped that. As I finished my teen years and found veganism in early college just before I turned 19 I lost my period. Noone tells you that you will lose it when you go on an extreme diet and exercise plan. It came back once I balanced more plant based protein and veggies in my diet. Then I got pregnant and oh the glory of nearly a year without period cramps. After giving birth 6 years ago and every month since I have what I call monster periods. I had a cyst on my ovary whilst pregnant that I never heard about again so who knows if it is still there. I bleed so much every month that I am sometimes too weak to get out of bed. I wear depends and have to change often. It's insane.

So how come I’m on the pill birth control but around the time I would obvulate (birth control makes it so you can’t) I still get all the symptoms as if I actually am?? I always get so worried and make sure to not even do anything during that time just in case

As someone with pcos, you can confuse your app by just randomly telling it you started your period. Before I turned it off, every day my app would send me a notification that my period was expected to start that day. I did this way before roe because my ovaries are hostile ;)

If your next cycle/period starts on the 28th are you counting the last day of your cycle and the first day of your next cycle as the same day? I would think a period starting on the first and the next period starting the 28th is a 27 day cycle, no?

I'm not 100% if this is what she meant but I remember reading somewhere how in places where abortion is illegal, if you did somehow get an abortion and if there's anything suspicious about your period cycle in the app, the information can be used against you. There's possibly other reasons idk but this is the one I could think of

There is no actual correlation between dates of menstruation and abortion. It might be some illness or hormonal problems or weight loss or whatever. Despite marketing there is no way you might be in danger. But it easily can be solved with critical thinking so its more a paranoia @@peachysoda8584

Some Americans are having a meltdown since the supreme court put abortion policymaking back into the jurisdiction of the states rather than regulating it at a federal level. Not that anyone should ever particularly trust the government, but their fears that Big Brother is going to digitally spy on women to force them to have unwanted babies is completely unfounded. If there's a reason not to use apps, it's that they repeatedly have data breaches. That is, if theyre not already openly selling your personal information.

Is there anything you could do to tell this to somebody with PCOS. The year I got pregnant with my son I had one period. And that was in March, then I got pregnant with him in October of that same year. And I had him in 2018. It seems like after him I cannot have a healthy pregnancy, because I've had four miscarriages after him

My perdido tracking app posted during the Roe v Wade stuff and said they are encrypting their data and not collecting personal identifying information for this exact reasons. Who knows if it is real but they at least called it out especially during a really scary time.

maybe the government isn't going to do much but advertisers surely will take advantage of the periods in you're cycle to sell you stuff. a simple example would be to sell you workout gear or clothing during follicular phase as you're most active then. or sell you comfort items during your luteal/menstrual phases

Oh gosh. I've never been diagnosed with pcos but something told me i had it. (Well im pregnant now) Been having irregular periods almost all my life. Some cycles it would come consecutively but then nothing. Also, my length would be 7-8 days. And they used to be so heavy. The app kinda did work. It would be confused as heck. But it would" learn" my cycle and keep a good track. So yea. I wouldn't know what to make of my cycle if i were to keep track of it manually.
