I've been trading TQQQ/SQQQ exclusively every day. In the morning I generally wait for the first big pull back of the day and buy and try and make 2-3% with a -2% stop loss. Starting around 2:00p I start to look at the prevailing trend (there has to be a trend) and then leverage in on lows with a tight stop loss just looking to get an extra 1%, but if it doesn't work, I get out asap. I'm not willing to lose more in one day than the average of my historic profit days and in the afternoon I'm not willing to give up much at all. It is a grind but if you can generate on average (w/losses) 1% a day returns compounded over time, you can grow an account significantly over time. And specializing in TQQQ has taken my emotions out of the game and made day trading more consumable and focused.

Good summary, but you forgot to mention checking if the greater markets are gapping up or down as well or if the move is restricted to the specific stock. Beginners might miss that nuance

Yeah I always have a 5 minute graph open for the NASDAQ while watching for entry and exit points on individual tech stocks like TSLA.. sometimes it can give a half-minute heads-up on bigger moves in the market which can have a slightly delayed impact on individual company stocks in the same sector to allow time to get in or out earlier.

@@juliapigworthy Nasdaq alone is not good enough. I recommend at minimum Vanguard's market sector ETFs to get more specific insight.

this is my main strategy for swing trading. however, this year is especially hard to time my entries and exits right without getting too close to margin call when my portfolio is already 50% down from last year's long positions.

My thesis is correct about 90% of the time and I still manage to lose money consistently. I just want to punch myself in the face. I have some amazing TA skills with no indicators .... yet always manage to do the wrong thing at the wrong time. I'm up over my trading journey... but it's dwindling slowly... In your video, you are describing how to trade the stock once the gap has occurred, yes? What I am interested in, is how do you trade at the previous day's close so as to capture the overnight move after the morning's gap. I read the daily chart to assess what the stock will do the following morning, and then enter a trade right at the market close. I use the same rules I would use for intra-day trading. It is a way to do Day Trading and Swing Trading at the same time.

Some assets will let you sell options that expire in one week. Certain companies, like MSFT or HD offer really great deals on this type of derivative. I like to sell very near to the money, unless it's something I'm interested in holding. Works great for an IRA or something where you don't pay tax on gains from the market. BTW, I watched a lot of your videos during the lockdown when I had an all night awake shift. Thank you for the trading tips and education.

Pretend we know nothing about technical analysis and want to be able to predict overnight premarket gap-ups. Please be so kind and explain to us in the most simple and concise way possible as if you would explain it to a 10 year old, how can we predict overnight premarket gap-ups?
