How to Trade Volume: Tutorial

We quickly want to show you the basics of adding volume to your chart. Especially what that means and how it can be used. At its core volume shows you how many buyers and sellers transacted at a specific price. It shows you how many shares, contracts or coins were traded over a specific period of time.
Some traders use volume to confirm trends, measure popularity, and look for abnormal trading activity.
Volume is different from Volume Profiles in the sense that Volume shows you how much trading Volume occurred at a specific point in time. Volume Profiles show how much trading Volume occurred at a specific price. We explain this later on in the video toward the end.
Adding volume to your chart is easy. Open the Indicators menu and then search for Volume. From there, you can edit Volume to show you a moving average and change its color or appearance.

Thanks for the informative video. I am new to Trading View. Many charting providers do not provide volume for stock indices as indices are not directly traded like individual stocks. But you seem to provide the volume indicator for indices as well. What exactly does that volume value indicate in case of stock indices?

So out of the total daily / hourly volume etc how do I know how much is buying pressure and how much is selling. If there is 100k total volume for a given time period do I know how much is bought and how much is sold? Is it as simple as a red candle means more selling and a green candle means more buying and the length of the candle gives an idea of how big the difference between buyers and sellers is or have I got the completely wrong end of the stick? Thanks for the educational videos.

When i switch between time frames, trend lines are changing their location. Eg. On daily chart if my trendline passes at ₹300 then on 15 min chart, It changes to a position other than 300. Please have a look at it and solve it.

Hi, thanks for the video. What is the unit for volume in forex market ? If I see Vol = 20.000K on EURUSD, is that mean 20 000 euros was traded or 20 000 lots (value 100 000) ?

should volume on intraday charts add up to daily volume count? i've flipped from 24hr to 1hr candles, and the 1hr candles tally up to a way smaller amount

Hey, well explained. So suppose if i want to know 52 week average volume. So in that case can i 1. Add the Volume Indicator 2. Set the time interval to weekly 3. Go to the indicator settings and under inputs if i set the MA Length to 52 . 4. Under indicator settings if i add the Volume MA line. Then if i hover the mouse in the graph will the white line give me the 52 week average volume?

We will make a video with more detail on that. It shows up volume and down volume. You can customize the colors yourself by opening the Volume Profile settings.
