I'm weaker during ovulation phase, during my period I'm a BEAST. IT SUCKS to go down in weight when you spent 3 weeks crushing it..

Omg Adam described exactly what happens to me. Sometimes I get ready to train hard during my cycle, expecting to hit a PR just because "it's the time of the month to do so" (disregarding the crappy rest I may have had) just to find myself feeling beaten down after a light warmup hahahah :'D

Love this question and answer. Today is my second day on my menstruation and I still worked out but went lighter on weights and did one fewer sets. I still got my heart pumping and worked up a good sweat.

I noticed I only suck at lifting very heavy stuff during that time. I can do high reps just fine, I just get out of breath more easily. I think the general feeling of fatigue cause by PMS is causing this as our nervous system plays a huge role in how good we are at lifting heavy.

I have read some women schedule around their period cycle. They do their hard work outs and once that period cycle has arrived they go back to light. Which it’s smart. Unfortunately becuase I use BC it has messed it up. I don’t have a consistent time that I get my period. However, a week prior, I do get very emotional and this is the second month that I feel really fatigue. Last month I skipped a week becuase I was so tired. I agree every woman is different and we should listen to our body and energy for that day. I didn’t do that before and now the way I feel I pay close attention to it. If im too tired I skip the day, especially on my period. There is times on my period I am very energetic, but lately it has chosen to drop down my energy. It’s hard, but we have to listen to our body.

I do it too. Now, I don't intentionally cut down on the intensity at a planned point, but when I notice my performance decreasing around that time I back down a bit and as the guys said I have more empathy towards myself. It's less stressful than when I didn't know this because I know I'm not doing anything wrong, my body is simply going through a phase.

The thing I keep on hearing is that it’s not good for women to train hard the week before period because of long term health effects it might cause, such as reduction in progesterone production later on, losing period, menopause and etc, not necessarily about how we are feeling at the moment and that’s what scares me to train before period. I can push myself to train even when I’m not feeling well, but not worth it if it’s going to affect my long term health. I hope you guys will discuss more topics like this in the future.

What I don’t like is when I’m on my period my abs don’t look as prominent. Something I’ve noticed… I’ve been hitting personal records in the gym with core strength, been going really hard to where I’m legit about to pass out and I’m seeing colors. I’ve noticed my period is less regular. I’m not stoked about it. I’m not sure why that happens. I have no idea why we haven’t evolved out of bleeding every month. It’s graphic, really hurts and is a real inconvenience. Though, I am glad I don’t have 3 separate things dangling in between my legs 24 / 7, with one of them having a mind of it’s own.. I’d always be conspicuously holding a book or bag or something.

If your period is less regular, how is your diet? This happened to me before. My periods went absent FREQUENTLY. It was because I didn’t have enough energy to ovulate as a woman.

your period is not an inconvenience. you don’t understand why you have one in the first place. having this approach towards period is only gonna take you away from your womanhood and in the end, health

You lost your pull up because you lacked food and sleep, water recovery etc.. zero correlation with your menstrual cycle. It’s already been researched by 1200 subjects by the research of sport and science and the affects are “meaningless”. Work harder!
