If I go out and paddle 10 miles a couple days a week, is that considered "long distance"? Would doing, say, 15 miles (or just 5 miles) be better?

Maybe use some graphics to support your percentages etc, can be simple on paper/board or PowerPoint?????

In OC6 marathons we are often encouraged to pull hard for the first few huks to get up speed. Is this generally recommended?

It’s okay to get off the start line and out of trouble but now super necessary for marathons haha.

For long distance races I used to go out at the pace I would use for the main body of the piece but the water is so bad behind several dozen OC's or even more that I understand now why you go out pretty hard to get clean water then move into your race pace.

Seems Garmin muddies the water some, calling Zone 5, 90 to 100% Threshold into anaerobic. What percent of possible output really is anaerobic? 97%+? I'm certainly not doing 44 minutes anaerobic in an hour race...

80% aerobic work and 20% anaerobic work for training.

Depends where you are. Im 50% anaerobic right now preparing for sprint championships in 4 weeks time
