The Making of "How to Train your Dragon", in this video, it shows how the sound of the various Dragons are created and made of. There are 6 dragon species, the NightFury, Monstrous Nightmare, Gronckle, Terrible Terror, Deadly Nadder and Zippleback.
This video shows how their roars and sounds and audios are created by mixing the sounds of Human and animal sounds such as Elephants, Horses, Tigers etc.
Toothless and Nightfury 's sound are emphasized, and they are created by mixing Humans, Elephants, Horses, Tiger and Cats sound together.

I’m curious about the sound effects of the Deadly Nadder and the Hideous Zippleback. Those ones make noises that are so unique for fictional creatures that they sound otherworldly. Nadders sound like giant parrots and Zipplebacks sound like they’re constantly holding in their own vomit. I guess that’s why Ruffnut and Tuffnut called theirs Barf and Belch.

If you watch this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e6mIm6Z9p5fZlXk.html and listen closely, you can hear the different animals. In the deadly nadder noises you can hear the different sounds of animals such like pigs/wild pigs, big cats like a tiger or lion growls/roars, monkey screeches, birds like an eagle or something. Same thing with the hideous zippleback. This is just an observation not a fact though.

I like the video don't get me wrong but I wish they could've thrown in a sample like how they mix a bunch of vocals in and the result of it. You can describe all you want but I think we all want to hear it as well. Maybe they don't wanna spill the beans, I may never know but it would've made this video a lot more interesting.

@@depressedthoughts NO, stop hoping. Let it end nicely for once. Homecoming is a "Christmas" like special (but in this case Snoggletog). You see some of the characters 10 years later still away from dragons. Toothless and the Light Fury have kids, they visit Berk. Their parents find out and follow them. Something goes wrong, so Toothless has to save Hiccup from somewhere, but he doesn't know it's Toothless yet. His daughter meets the dragon for mere seconds, so she has learned dragons are nice instead of cruel. In the end the family sit together and watch the sky, they notice Toothless and his family leaving Berk, knowing theyll always be together. No matter how much apart. This follows them visiting the Hidden World, wich you see at the end of the third movie.

So as we all know he uses his own voice for some of the sounds for Toothless. I don’t mean to sound like I’m awesome or anything or better than anyone else but I can do a variety of Toothless’ grumbles, coos, etc myself without editing or anything just plain out by myself and I just find it kind of cool.

TheWildDiamondDragon I understand. That's not selfish in my book. I've been able to sound like Toothless since as long ago as the first movie. It's really fun to sound like him. I'm actually working on a cosplay of Toothless at the moment. Hoping with enough work to make a fully functioning and moving tail fluke. My sister would be my Hiccup. I would be putting a ton of work into it as I would want the wings to move too. We'll see though.

I know one of the noises that the light fury makes was that of a nickering horse and it was plainly obvious. she also has more catlike sounds than toothless, like if you hear when toothless first met the light fury and she smelled Hiccup and Astrid nearby you could clearly hear the sound of a domestic cat and a puma before she fired her plasma blast (which by the way the sound of the plasma blast alone is top notch)

Agreed. I think Thunder is kinda cute and his tail fin looks actually really cool too! And in this Rescue Riders they dont even show Toothless, whats kinda sad. They could make a movie from Rescue Riders about "searching for a Night fury" and could find Toothless anywhere. Yeah it maybe wouldn't make sense but it would be so cool. Wanna see how he looks in the style of Rescue Riders, And how his voice would sound like (bc they can speak dragon language)

But it does no justice to the books! Listen to the audio books here on KZfaq, there is such thrill and suspense as the main character unwittingly fulfills a 1000 year old prophecy wrought out by the evil and greed of other men. The movies are just "oh I got a dragon cool :D"

@@greekfreak1436 Yeah, but this one has conflict between Dragons and Vikings, making friends and therefore peace with your enemies, and a beautiful story of admiting you mistakes and putting traditions aside for the greater good. It's not just "hey guuuurl, i got a winged cat, wanna ride ?" I didn't have the chance to read the books, but it doesn't change that this is still a good movie on its own. Like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. _Terrible_ adaptation, but an okay movie.
