In this week’s AbsoluteDogs TV Episode, we discuss:
Labradoodles! While there are many doodles (and this episode will help!), this week we focus on the very popular, and beautiful, labradoodle.
What are some consideration as a Labradoodle owner?
· Awareness of characteristics coming from their genetics
· How you can provide variety to enhance your Labradoodle’s training
· Training games that may not be suitable for your doodle
· How you can present your Labradoodle with a good deal and what that means
· Injecting grooming and coat care a part of daily life
If you have a different type of doodle (i.e. Cockapoo, Goldendoodle, etc.), many of these tips while also apply and consider your dog’s unique individuality and needs given their combination of breeds and unique traits. LOVED THIS! my girl is a soft hair wheaton terrier/poodle cross and boy oh boy is she a clever. I laughed when Tom said the poodle will do what it wants to do! Combine that with the wheaton...double! I have been with AbsoluteDogs since she was 2 and the difference it made to our lives was huge! Can't say enough about the games, the support etc. Thank you AbsoluteDogs. Thank you Tom and Lauren.

I have 2 labradoodles an F1 and one F1b… one is really focused all day looking at me waiting for next instructions with almost human eyes. The other seems to have attention deficit, hahaha, she prefers squirrels than balls and has a more mind of herself choosing what and when to do it herself… both gorgeous, kind, cute!

They are gorgeous, so kind and happy. He likes to do middle (we call ist parking) but he doesn’t understand that he should walk around me and come into middle when I am facing him. He wants to run in from the front. It’s ok when I face him sideways or with my back but not from the front. Any idea how I can solve that?

Hello!! Great question! Sometimes it helps to take it back to the basics of learning Middle. Here is a super step-by-step video on teaching Middle. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hKxoZtthzsrQmmw.html You can find it at about 2:15. We love having food in both hands, luring with one hand around the back of your legs and then through the middle with the other hand 🙌 You can also do a food trail around your feet to help them get the pattern of coming through from the back 😊

We've got a Golden Mountain Doodle (Bernedoodle, Golden Doodle cross) and she's a really smart cookie! The tip about scent and not scattering really makes a huge amount of sense! She does love scent and gets very distracted if we play "find it"/"get it" with scattered food, but focuses much much better with "catch" with food. We'll try working more moving up our static "middle" to add in movement like i n this video. Looking forward to having loads of fun with her doing it!

I have a stubborn Australian Labradoodle....she will just look at me when I ask her to do something, like either she is deciding to do it or not, or is slowly processing the value in it. But if she gets a sock or shoe....there is nothing more valuable than that!

Wonderfully a typical Poodle Doodle! If there's anything they know, its what a good deal is! We developed a whole course for powering up our Poodle Doodle training skills and helping them have that value in the rewards while appreciating their love for variety! We have a goldendoodle. He is obviously very people focused and wants to please but I can see he's getting more separation anxiety. And actually I sort of feel I need to play less games and perhaps give a bowl of food instead sometimes to not make his focus to be me all the time. To chill I'm not a big deal! So I'm interested why you pick certain games for this breed and variety? He's only 11 weeks old and we're doing stas course.

I like ditch the bowl and have enjoyed the training so far only on day 7. But he goes a bit crazy if I go where he can't so I've tried to bring if down a notch today and he's coped it seems a little better this evening 🤞 smart dogs so hopefully we'll crack it and he won't suffer anxiety when he can't be with us. Any game recommendations for this character? He's actually an F1b miniature goldendoodle. (mum goldendoodle and dad a toy poodle) /a tiny little sheep

Hey Charlotte, thank you for your comment and questions! We love that you love Ditching the Bowl and appreciate the challenge of it growing your dog to grow the separation challenges. So then the secret sauce some in the application. Rather than playing all the games inside, maybe you only play them outside so you still grow their desire to engage with you in distracting environments, and inside maybe you pay the food towards growing Independence and Calmness. There are many super ways you can still Ditch the Bowl inside the home that does not require so much interaction with you. Here's a super free ebook on the many ways you can Ditch the Bowl game.absolute-dogs.com/mc-ditch-the-bowl . The games chosen in this video for Labradoodles, are chosen for typical Labradoodle character traits, listen back again as Tom and Lauren discuss what Labradoodles are commonly known for as well as some special details about River, herself 😊

I have a 5yr old mini Goldendoodle who has been trained using absolutedog methods and she’s brilliant, I also have a 10 month old Sheepadoodle who was doing great till his hormones kicked in and is now very dog reactive (he just wants to play with every dog) I will just have to persevere till he calms, though he is getting more difficult to mange the bigger he gets (currently 32kg) 😅
