Yeah, it's always weird when you hear the voice of a specific person coming out of their bird. Tori says "shnack" instead of "snack" and "yesh" instead of "yes" but apollo doesn't seem to have picked that up...yet.

@@shot2destroy129 They got Apollo when he was very young. I don't believe he was even talking yet. He was 8-9 months old, iirc. Talking birds don't have individual "voices" or unique accents beyond the sound of their trainers' voices. They're just copying whomever they learned a specific phrase or word from. So if apollo learned to say "hello" from Dalton, he would say "hello" in Dalton's voice. And if he learned to say "color green" from copying Tori, he will always say it in Tori's voice. As far as mimicking human speech, Apollo doesn't really have one main "accent" or unique voice that is particular to him. In nature, he would learn to copy calls and even complex "songs" from his parents and from members of his flock. He would then repeat those sounds in their "voices." That voice forms a regional "accent" among all the birds in that flock. Birds can then identify a bird who has a different accent (because s/he grew up in a different area) and often won't be accepting of them. Interestingly, there have been Australian birds (Galah) who have learned human sounds like lawn mower engines, car horns, and things like that. Pretty soon, all the birds in the local area will be mimicking those same sounds, so they do teach each other new sounds they hear a lot.

It’s less as a competition and more of an example to see. Apollo can see when Tori gets the right answer she gets a treat, but when she is wrong she doesn’t. It’s helpful for teaching new concepts.
