Just wanted to let you know worked like a charm with my Czech Shepard for pulling. E-collar she could care less, prong was a matter of minutes to heal the best she eleven has done.

This a great! So well done. Any thoughts on working with an older pup (almost one years old) shepherd that walks very nicely on a loose leash, but lags a good foot or two behind me on my left hand side when we walk? I'm used to dogs pulling but this one is so easy going, very soft female. She likes to lounge in the grass with her ball observing her surroundings when we're at the park. Very sweet temperament.

I may be doing it wrong, but when I stop to talk to someone for example I tell my dog to sit/down and expect him to keep that position until I 'free' him or give him another command. I use 'wait' for when I need him to remain somewhere while I open a gate etc and then tell him come/heel (depending on situation). This way my dog knows to wait there until I call him to me. I use stay for when I leave him and then return to him, for example if I nip inside to get something. Some people may think that this is too many commands for sort of the same thing, but it works really well for me and my dog always knows what is coming next.

Watching your videos and seeing puppies younger than mine walking amazing on leash I'm beginning to lean towards a prong collar I was unsure but I'm getting convinced I have a 7 months old border collie and while he's obedient and an amazing dog when we walk or go to the park he rushes to get where he wants to go, he checks in with me and all but is so annoying to wait after he already sniffed everything and played and goofed around to finally get his attention and if he sees other dogs I cease to exist, I watched Zak George's videos and kikopups, bought a harness and got convinced that it was "normal" to not be able to walk nicely on a leash until he was older but Watching you opebed my eyes I mean 4 month old puppies already ignoring distractions, like I bought the harness and still not working with the "convincing him that I'm fun and the best option" I mean my BC is a working breed I can wait for him to be a year old to drag me around specially because I'm planning to train him to be a well behaved service dog

You don't need a prong to teach your dog to walk on leash... If you get one, you eill teach your dog to distrust you, you will increase the likelihood of your dog becoming more aggressive and fearful, and you wilk significantly lower their quality of life. And for what? You're too impatient to wait a little longer, train more? You're a little annoyed your dog pulls sometimes? Just hire a good r+ trainer to help you train more efficiently and you will get there without a prong.

Can I teach to heal and walk on my right hand side or should it only be left? When I walk a dog I feel most comfortable holding the leash in my right hand, this is why I ask. Thanks!!

This is a great informative video! I have been trying to get my puppy to walk to heel she can do it sometimes but then she just wants to pull on the lead constantly. She is a 7 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I have tried just using a lead and collar, Harness and now a slip lead and nothing seems to stop her at all. Am I best to do down the prong collar route? We are based in the UK and it's hard to get one. I don't want to have to do it but I can't see what else I can do to walk her properly.

I think you know what the answer is. Especially given what hasn't worked and the breed you have. Let us know a few days after trying it in combination with this technique. Night and day difference you'll see

Love your training methods, thanks a lot for sharing. My 15 months male Flatcoated Retriever gets very excited when he sees other dogs, starts pulling the leash and lunges. He is not aggressive, fear or insecure of dogs, he is pretty well socialized and very friendly. He would also run off right away and play with other dogs if he is off leash. Do you have any tips how to correct his behavior? Or could you please share a video with this type issue? Thank you!

My golden doodle would take me out with just stepping on his leash. Any suggestions? I had a training session with a trainer that used a slip leash and he did well, but it's not always easy to grab that and take him outside to potty. I know I need to be consistent and that is most likely the issue.

I've worked with horse trainers and the similarities between leash pressure and working a horse with pressure is supposedly very very similar. I don't know because I don't train horses but that's what these folks have told me. They say "just like training a horse". Not all of the training my new but specifically leash pressure

Does heal have to be only one side cuz I would like my dog to be able to rotate to each side depending on where I'm walking. Kind of like when I'm with my significant other. I don't want them on the side of the traffic. I want them on the inside

If you practice that lure enough, will the dog eventually learn to spin into position? My dog is really slow with finding position so I don't really expect or care that she does that. I'm just curious how the competition heeling dogs get trained.

Yes. A combination of luring and other methods will paint the proper picture and get that reliability

Ok. I have a clicker. When do I use the clicker? In conjunction with training treats? I have a 12 week American Pitbull terrier. When is a good time to really starting hard training? Prong collar? She has terrible attention span. Sometimes I can get her to watch me but often times I call her name and I get no response.

@@greeneyes6311 no luck. My dog gets on a scent and she won’t come for a rib-eye!! I use the choke collar and walking is still a challenge with constant pulling.
