amazing video Tim! I try to follow your steps but you make it sound much easier than the amount of time needed to do transcription haha

Guitar Pro 8 is better for that. You can loop song and transcribe in same environment. Also I use Moises to remove instruments and vocals

Hi Tim enjoyed your video on drum transcription and have one question. I have spent hours listening to song sound tracks trying to transcribe with pen and paper what I think I hear from the grooves and fills. Hopefully then I can at least come close to duplicating the original drum parts. Can one download the original song into "Transcribe" and then have it dissect out the drum grooves and fills for transcription to drum sheet music? I appreciate your help.

You rock Tim! I've been using this workflow since you first taught it and it has served me well. Finale is the most time consuming part this process, but I'm slowly getting faster with it. Do you use stream deck or anything for shortcuts when using Finale?
@TimBuell
@TimBuell 3 жыл бұрын
Jason - glad this stuff is paying off! Yes - Finale is something you have to "practice" just like drums (except not NEARLY as fun haha). I actually do use my Stream Deck for Finale. It is SUPER helpful as Finale actually doesn't do a great job with having intuitive shortcuts for the percussion input specifically. Inputting sextuplets, typing in stickings, and things like that take SEVERAL steps to do and the Stream Deck makes them all as easy as a press of 1 button. It took a while to design the macros to be intuitive for me - but I think the Stream Deck was well worth it - just for the way I use it in Finale alone.

Great video! Thank you, Tim. Question for you, have you found it faster to simply use your mouse to enter in the notes or are you using hot keys?
@TimBuell

Great question! I mostly input notes by clicking, but I use the number keys to determine what note value (eighth, sixteenth, quarter, etc)

can any of the notation software like guita pro load/loop and play the music synchronized with the notation that you already made?
@TimBuell
@TimBuell 2 жыл бұрын
The software I use (Finale) can do playback of the notation. You can even pick what sounds you want and customize some of the "human playback" features like swing and other things like that.

Hello, I have an electric drum and I want the groove I'm working on to appear on the computer screen at the same time, I want to see it on the computer every time I hit a note. Can you suggest such a program?
@TimBuell

Hey! I’m afraid that’s not a work flow I’ve ever worked with so can’t help much. I know that Logic Pro has a MIDI notation view that might be what you are after.

Hey man, I love your content and find your explanations really clear and well made. I wonder if you were ok to transcribe a song or two for me. Of course I will pay if you ask, and if so, how much would you ask? per minute... per difficulty... (Frank Zappa) Thanks for all and I hope I will hear more from you soon.
