5:06 - Windows PC Memory Card method

In this video, I'll show you how to transfer photos and videos from your Canon PowerShot V10 camera to your Mac, PC, and phone.
Also a quick and easy way to get your photos and videos off of your camera and onto your phone, so you can share them with friends and family or edit them on your phone.
I'll cover several different methods:
Using a USB cable that comes with the V10: This is the most common way to transfer files from a camera to a computer. Simply connect the camera to your computer with a USB cable, and then open the “Photos” app on a Mac or “file explorer” or image viewer app on a PC. More in the video.
Using a memory card reader: If you have a memory card reader, you can use it to transfer files from your camera to your computer without having to connect the camera directly. Simply insert the memory card into the reader, and then connect the reader to your computer. The photos and videos will be displayed in the “Finder” on a Mac “file explorer” or image viewer app on a PC, and you can then copy them to a folder on your computer.
I will also show you how to transfer photos and videos from your Canon PowerShot V10 camera to your phone using the Canon Camera Connect App. The specific steps involved in transferring photos and videos from your camera to your phone using the Canon Camera Connect App.
Whichever method you choose, I hope this video helps you transfer your photos and videos from your Canon PowerShot V10 camera to your Mac, PC, and phone.

Thank you so much! I have been struggling with transferring videos via the app because our Mac is older and doesn't have a USB-C port. Using the memory card method is a game changer!

How's the photo quality? It's currently priced at $329 in my country. I wanna take photos and maybe short length videos. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and was wondering if this is worth the replacement as my main camera? I know next to nothing about cameras btw.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I would say no, your iPhone 13 Pro Max (with its 12-megapixel camera) would out perform the V10. The V10 has about 15 megapixels to use for photo, *but doesn’t have the same computational photography capabilities as the 13 Pro Max. Computational photography is in most mobile phones to enhance pictures you take. The V10 video, maybe. Out-of-the-pocket convenience use-yes. The video quality is also good better than the 13 Pro Max when in *low light*, because it has a 1-inch sensor (behind the camera lens). The 13 Pro Max has smaller sensor. Still, the iPhone 13 Pro Max video quality (with its computational processing power) for general use would still be pretty darn good and even better than the V10 outdoor in certain instances. If you have money to spare, I would pick up for the V10. Because it’s so small, for me I use the V10 to document the behind the scenes during my family photography business sessions, especially during the golden hour (low light) and after. I could leave it on the ground, in the tree branch, on top of my full-frame camera with a hotshoe adapter, hanging on my chest and so forth. Hope this helps.

Hi, I press import once i get it up on my mac but then it never ends up in my photos. Do you have any recommendations on what i should do.Thanks for the video tho, it did help, i think it because the video im trying to download is like 40 mins.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Yes, is possible that if the video is long, it would take a longer time to transfer over to your Mac. Videos usually take much longer to transfer than photos for the V10. Have you tried again and waited? Also use the cable that came with it (if not, it needs to be data transferable cable.) also try reboot your Mac if necessary. Let me know.

@@TossSong hi, so I have left it for around half an hour or so but when I press import it doesn’t have that downloading symbol like yours did. I think I might just keep trying because I don’t know what the issue could be but thank you so much for your help!

Do I still need a sd card if I’m going to be using the app to import my videos to my iPad ?

And if so what sd card do I get for the camera ?
@TossSong

Hi, thanks for reaching out. I recommend you connect it to the iPad directly using a cable, you won’t need an SD card. Once you connect the iPad to V10, go to “Files” (native folder app), look for the video files and drag them over (by touch). For the Canon Camera Connect app, you won’t need an SD card, but. it would be to long to transfer videos using/through the app.

From my previous reply, you won’t need an SD card to transfer to your iPad. But for recording, you could use pretty much and Micro SD card. But if you want to record in 4K, read the card description to see if it can record in 4K. Hope that helps.

is the quality affected when you transfer the videos on the phone ?
@TossSong
@TossSong 3 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment Yes for 4K (too slow to transfer, sometimes it won’t). No for 1080P from my experience. But if it’s a long video, it would be Not worth the waiting time (and sometimes it will disconnect and won’t transfer).

How is this camera ..is it worth buying?

Hi, as you may have noticed that I have owned many expensive cameras, using them to do things on my channel. However the Canon V10 is for beginner vlogger. It can also do photos very well, I would say the image quality is better than any phone (but does not have many features to do still photos-mainly all on auto). The V10 is the most convenient, compact camera OF Canon G7X III in term of videos (they both share the same tech, but the V10 has less still photo features). If you know about the G7X I, II & III, they are very popular among vloggers for years. So, if you’re into get-up-and-go vlogging or maker demonstrations. And may be just starting out as a content creator, then I would say YES it is worth it. Other than that you could always use your phone instead. Thanks for your comment.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I mainly use this camera for vlogging for my Thai channel (when I need to be discreet & outdoor only).

@@TossSong I wanted to try for shooting my fashion content.. for its budget.. I m in dilemma.... I don't vlog much ... Till now I m shooting in my iphone 13.. but from front camera for viewfinder.. sometimes when I shoot from the back camera by videos turns out blurry for its focus shifts.. that's why I was thinking for a camera which I can operate and also is not complex

I see. I have an iPhone 13 mini. In my opinion, While the Canon V10 video features are Quite easy to use, your iPhone video camera is still more convenient (because we all are used to it). However (#1) because the V10 camera has a larger 1-in sensor vs 0.53-in on the iPhone 13, the Video Quality for indoor shooting (especially for your fashion content) should be better with the V10, and I did test it. However (#2), the auto focus Indoor for *both* Can sometimes still be unpredictable. However (#3), if you had the V10, you could use your iPhone 13 as a remote controller via Bluetooth and “tap-to-focus” for the V10-and it would stick. I have a video on this “Autofocus with the Canon V10” on my channel. However (#4), of course there are other options out there with more reliable Autofocus, but they won’t be as easy to operate like the V10 and your 13. How this helps.

Show us the $150.00 power adapter required to charge Canon V10.
@TossSong

Hi, thanks for your comment. I assume sounds like this you’re referring to an expensive proprietary power adapter that is required to charge the Canon PowerShot V10 camera, with a bit of exaggeration, which I don’t really know. I’m mainly a Sony user and just got this one for quick convenience video/photo capture. Maybe I could have should have mentioned this as an additional required purchase for owners of this camera.

All the reviewers "forget" to mention the POWER ADAPTER REQUIREMENT. I had the camera in hand. SPECIFIC ADAPTER is required, else WILL NOT CHARGE. @@TossSong

I see, sorry to hear that. I didn’t know, for me, I use a usb-c to sub-a cable to connect to an outlet with usb-a port. No adapter. So, I wouldn’t know that we need one. Sorry though.
