How to Transfer Embroidery Designs From Your Computer to a USB Stick

Patrycja from Hayes Sewing Machine Co located in Wilmington DE will show you how to get more embroidery designs for your embroidery machine. You can purchase embroidery designs on a CD as well as download embroidery designs from the internet.
You will learn how to transfer designs from a CD to a USB-stick, as well as how to download embroidery designs to your computer so that you can transfer them to your USB-stick.
This video tutorial is done on a Windows 10 computer, please note there will be slight variations if you are using a different Windows version or an Apple computer.

Thank you for giving a clear, concise explanation on how to do this! I’ve watched so many tutorials on here, and they assume that you know what you are doing (I don’t!) and zip right through it! I actually understand it, and was able to do it after watching this video. (I have to say, I’m 70, and NOT very computer literate! Lol)

I learned this the hard way. I have my designs on a terabyte USB and transferred my ones to use on a 64 gigabyte......well that didn't work so I dug out a cheapy stick that I got at a trade show That was 6 megabytes and my machines are happy. 😁

I have Creative Drawing 6 on desktop with windows 10, but it won't work properly. I can open the program but only until i selected my design, then it just locks out automatically. Could you help please.

We don't sell that program, you'll have to contact the store that you purchased it from and ask them for assistance.

You can't download fonts. They work differently than designs because you're trying to string the letters together. For fonts, you really need to do software. It goes onto your computer, you do your design on the computer, save it to a usb-stick and then send it to the machine and it'll embroider out the name.

Why can't you just move the appropriate folder (exp for example) to the USB stick as a whole? Do you have to open it up and do the designs? Just moving the folder via 'send to' would save steps...

Make sure to have the file unzipped. As I'm trying to show people who are not comfortable with using a computer, what's happening, I opted to do it this way. There are several variations on how to do this process. Feel free to do it the way you are more comfortable with.

Windows is currently up to version 11, so I don't know if you can update to Windows 10, or you have to go to Windows 11. Check with your local computer store.
