You can get a good amount of overcharge by freezing the receiver can for at least an hour and running the donor can under hot water. It really makes a difference. The paint just blasts into the empty can and retains great pressure.

If you don't have any actual transfer caps (with the longer tubes), take multiple (I found 3 works best) needle cap "needles" and glue them together. (You can use a little strip of paper at the joints to seal it properly) Take the empty can, put any cap on it, turn it up side down, and release a lot of pressure (doesn't have to be all, but the more the better). Now put the joined needle caps on both cans and start transferring, until the paint stops going from one can to the other (you will hear it). Take the can you're filling up and release the pressure again by turning it upside down, and repeat these two steps until you feel like there's enough paint in the can. The reason for joining multiple "needles" (or tubes) is so one can doesn't have to be upside down, I think it's the best way to do it.

ALWAYS heat up the full can and cool the empty can. It's much faster and more reliable that way. Doing male cans into female cans can produce nice results but that doesn't usually happen when using cheap male paint. the exception being cans with the wide old hardcore type valves used with pink dots. they work beautifully with anything. if you happen to be using a high quality male valved paint you should get nice results when transferred into any type of female can (eg. plastikote twist & spray into ironlak). If you want to make custom colors this way I would advise not mixing different brands together just to be safe, but it is doable with some basic knowledge of the brands you want to mix.

Brake cleaner caps and the straw that comes w/ it work just fine if you have that laying around as well. 😉

i got a problem.. i got this old school can of rusto rose.. its completely full but super high pressured and the female valve might be a little damaged inside.. is there a way i can transfer that paint into a nother can if caps arent working on it?

i usually do this but with a male rusto valve can just connect it to your favorite female valve can and press down and bam! no needle caps required! plus rusto is good paint btw do a review of rusto american accents or painter touch.
