Hi guys,
In this video I show how to transform your wheel stand into a full sim racing cockpit. This is a relatively easy DIY seat add on that will make a big difference to your sim racing experience.
I would really appreciate if you could like, comment and subscribe if you enjoyed the video, thanks :)
The items used in this project were:
- 25mm x 25mm Box Iron
- 2x4 Timber
- A piece of stair thread (This could maybe be plywood or mdf for you)
- 6 x M8 Bolts
- A bucket seat
Directions:
- Cut two lengths of 25mm x 25mm box iron at 1100mm
- Cut another length of box iron at 440mm
- Weld the 3 pieces of box iron together in the fashion shown in the video
You now have the base for the whole project
- Cut 2 pieces of 2x4 timber at 320mm.
- Cut your mdf or plywood at 382mm.
- Put your mdf or plywood in between your 2 pieces of 2x4 and screw them together
You now have your seat base
- On both lengths of the box iron, measure and mark off 150mm, 300mm and 450mm in from the back and drill a hole through each of the 6 markings you should now have.
- Put your seat base on top of the box iron
- Screw from the bottom of the box iron up into your wooden seat base through the 6 holes you drilled to secure it.
Your seat base should now be mounted securely to the box iron.
- Place your seat on the seat base
- Mark where you are going to drill through to secure your seat to the base
- Secure your seat to the base
You should now have transformed your wheel stand into a full sim racing cockpit!
Disclaimer: This is the procedure I followed for this project on the X rocker xr wheel stand. These steps may differ for you depending on what wheel stand you have.
