Our first impressions of Antigua Guatemala is that it's totally worth visiting, as it was once the capital of much of Central America and has so much charm, including Spanish colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture.

The second. Ciudad viejo the first. When Alvarado died, his wife assumed control, much to the anger of all. 16 days later, the nearby volcano erupted and the lava over ran her palace and her, stopping 10ms short of the church!!! I went to a whore house there and was ripped off, so backed up my car to the open door, spun the tires and roared off, BUT a cul de sac! So had to drive past the jeering people in the bar/cat house! How I found my way back to Antigua, I do not know.

La próxima vez vayan al Museo de Historia en el edificio amarillo, se entra por un costado y es gratuito. Es una maravilla todo lo que puede verse en ese museo, además hay bonita vista del parque desde el segundo nivel. Saludos desde Ciudad de Guatemala, por cierto exploren la capital, es increible.

La historia que contaron está un poco mezclada, les aclaro: La primera capital de Guatemala está en lo que hoy es Tecpán Guatemala, antigua capital de los kakchiqueles (grupo indígena) fue abandonada por las guerras entre los nativos de esa área, la segunda capital está en lo que hoy es Ciudad Vieja muy cerca de Antigua, fue destruida por una correntada que bajó desde el cráter del Volcán de Agua después de varios días de lluvia. La tercera capital es La Muy Noble y Muy Leal Ciudad de Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala hoy Antigua Guatemala que fue destruida por los Terremotos de Santa Marta en 1773. En 1776 se fundó la Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción, nombre oficial de Ciudad de Guatemala donde se asienta la cuarta capital de la República de Guatemala. Saludos.
